sortment has been selected with great care,
and embrades the latest stylei and the best

To-rimscr the Campbells will give their last
entertainment in this city.
Thzaz was a tremendous rush to - market,
this morning. By half-past six o'clock, nacio
of the farmers had "sold out" and gone home..
The supply of marketing did not equal the
demand. Prices were somewhat higher than
those of last week.

THE Rouse of Representatives has passed,
finally an act to incorporate the Scotland and
Mount Alto Railroad Company. It il-the de
sign of the Company to construct a railroad
from Scotland, on the Cumberland Valley ,
Railroad, to Mount Alto Furnace, on the
South Mountain, in Franklin county.
Go and hear Father Gulick, this evening,,
with the Campbell minstrels.
Av AGan FROG.—The other day, at Johns
town:as a mason was engaged in cutting :
stone, a living frog was found in the centre of
a stone that had been in use in a wall for over
thirty years. When discovered he was as flat
as a pancake, but aftei being released from
his prison, could hop about as well as anyi
other frog. The Cambria papers think thit
his frogship—coul.d he speak—woulA tell us
about the times when Noah lived. His only
defect is that he is totally blind. He has-been,.

placed in a cage for safe-keeping.
ON Monday evening next, Rouse's Star Com
bination Company will again appear at Brant's
Hall. During the engagement of the Camp'.
bell Minstrels, the Star troupe has been play
ing to immense audiences in Reading. The
people of Harrisburg will heartily welcome
the return of the Combination Company. The
ladies and gentlemen composing the troupe
sustain excellent characters, and the enter
tainments have been witnessed by our best
citizens.
On Monday evening, will be presented"l :s '
the fast time, Coleman's great play, entitled.
THE IKON CHEST. This is one of the most
popular dramas ever written, and those who_
fail to witness it will miss a grand treat. . The

LAFAYETTE LINDAW, brakesman on the
Northern Central Railroad, was killed at Ma
rysville, on Thursday morning. We have not
learned any particulars.
THERE is a dangerous opening on the site of
the old furnace-office recently burned, on
State street. It should be repaired at once,
as it presents a fine opportunity for passers-by
to injure themselvms, especially at night.
• THE FIFTY-FIFTH PENNA. REGIKENT. —Per
sons corresponding with members of the Fifty
fifth regiment, Pa. Vols., should direct their
letters to Yorktown, Virginia—the regiment
having moved from .Port Royal to the above
named place.
BAPTIST Cmaton.—There will be service in
the Baptist church, corner of Second and
Pine streets, on to-morrow morning at 10i,
and in the evening at 7i o'clock. The pulpit
will be occupjed by the Rev. Wm. Shadrach,
D. D., of Philadelphia. The public are in

Axorman SOLDIER Gofw..—Gideon J. peau s
of tlifkeity, and a 'thenAer' `of the Aleviol2
Pennsylvania Cavalry, was thrown from his
horse at Williamsburg, Va., about the last of
March, and died of his injuries. His age was
seventeen years. He had' been in the service
a month and a-half. His remains arrived here
at noon to-day, and will be interred to mor

MEETING OF THE COUNTY CbanarrrEa.—
In pursuance of the call of the chairman of
the County„ Committee, the committee met
last evening at the office of H. C. Alleman,
Esq., for the purpose of appointing delegates
to the County Convention, which will meet
in this city on Thursday next. After consult
ation, Geo.. Bergner and
,James Freeland,
Esqrs., were selected as Repiesentative dele
gates. Henry Thomas, Esq., was sislected as
Senatorial delegate, and Henry SheLlenberger
and Isaac, AEumma, ESqra., ,were appointed
Conferees to meet similar Conferees from Leb
anon county, .if any shoUld be tippointed from
said county. - • "
Tim dedication of the Wesleyan Al‘frican
church, , corner. of South street - and Taw:Lees
alley, will'take place to-morrow at 10 o'clock.
The congregation deserve great credit for
their efforts to erect an edifice that will be an
honor to the colored population of our city,
and an enduring evidence of their respect for
Christianity:' .over.four thou.sand dollars have
been contributed by the congregation towards
the erection of the house of worship. The
whole cost was about $6,000. Oar citizens
should lend a helping hind, so that the build
ing may be free from debt. Rev. J. -Walker
Jackson, of the LocUse Street .11. E. church,
will preach at 3 o'clock to-morrow, at which
time special arrangements will be made to ac
commodate such of our white citizens as may
attend. The church is a handsome structure,
and well worth a visit.
SALE OF REAL ESTATE, AT PRIVATE SALE.
James W. Weir sold to Remy Gilbert a lot of
ground, 26 feet 3 inches, on Front street, near
Locust, and 210 feet deep to River alley,
thereon erected a two-story frame house, fOr
the sum of $6,100 cash.
Sohn Swller sold to George Doehue a lot of
ground, 26 feet three inches on Chestnut
street and Raspberry alley, and 210 feet deep
to Blackberry alley, thereen erected a two
story brisk house, frame Stable and frame
house, for• the sum of $4,500 cash.
Rudolph F. Kelker sold to butcher Fink a
lot of ground in Chestnut street near Fourth
street, 26 feet 3 inches wide, 210 feet , deep,
thereen erected a two-story fralie house, &c.,
for the lum of $3,200 cash.
John Shannon sold to Major john.S. Det
weiler one acre and one-and-a:half perches of
land in the Sixth ward, fronting on the Har
risburg and Millerstownturnpidie, , and extend
ing to Third street, thereon erected a two
story brick house, &c., for the sum of $7,000.

21, 1864, by Sheriff Jennings:
