MOVEMENTS OF OEN. MoOLELLAN.
His Farewell Order to the army.
WANIZEIGToN, Nov. 11.
Major General McClellan and persona staff
left Warrenton at 11 o'clock to-day, on reach
ing Warrenton Junction, a salute was fired,
and the troops which had been drawn up In
line, afterwards broke ranks, when the soldiers
crowded around him, and many eagerly called
for a few parting words.
Re said in response while on the platform of
the care :—"I wish you to stand by Burnside
as you have stood by me and all will be well.
Good bye."
To this there rose a spontaneous and enthusi•
antic response. The troops were also drawaup
iu line at Bristow station, and Manassas Junc
tion, where salutes were fired, and where Mc-
Clellan was complimented with enthusiastic
cheers:
The party arrived here this afternoon just in
time to take the five o'clock train of cars for
Trenton.
The cars being detained, owing to some im
pediments on the track, Gen. McClellan was
recognised by the Many soldiers qnartered in
that vicinity, when "he was greeted with oft
repeated cheers.
The following farewell order was read to the
troops • composing the army of the Potomac
yesterday morning, on dress parade :
Eisannnikapass Amu POMAAO,
CAMP NEAR Rwarossows, Nov. 7, 1862.
Officers and Soldiers of the Army of the Facade:
By an ordervf the President devolves upOu
Major General Burnside the command of this
army. In parting from you I cannot express
the love and gratitude I bear 'to yon. As An
army yon have grown up under my care ; in j
you I have never found doubt br coldness.
The battles you have fought under my coml.-
mend will proudly live in our nation's histod.
The glory you have achieved, our peril arid , fa

battle and by disease, the biokeu forms of
those whom wounds.and sickness disabhalilixe
the strongest assertions which can exist among
men. That we are united still by indisoluble

REBELS RITSRLT FROM MURFREESBORO
Gen. llosecrans and staff , arrived last night,
having left Bowling Green at 6 o'clock that
morning on &train to Mitchellville, making the
remainder of the trip, 40 miles, on horseback
without interruption by the guerillas.
The forests are blazing along the greater por
tion of the route, and many dwellings are de
stroyed. The country looks painfully desolate.
The inhabitants forage and their stock ne trly
all gone.
He reports of the starving situation of
Nashville. About 80,000 bushels of core and
other substantiate were in store when General
McOook's corps arrived.
The recent attack of the enemy was a recou
noiaance and feint to enable Morgan's gueril
las to destroy the railroad bridge. We lost
about thirty killed and wounded in the at
tack.
Gen. McCook htis driven most of the rebels
clear back from the city.
The rebels etre still in considerable force at
Itutfreesboro, but are retreating as rapidly as
possible beyond the Tennessee river, destroying
everything as they retire.
A supyly train of one hundred wagons ar
rived from Mitchellsrille to-night.

COMM AND SABINE, CITY .
Full Pardonlers of the Expedition
The Navy bepartment has received volumi
niens dispatches from Bear Admiral Yarragut,
dated Pensacola Bay, October 15th.
After stating that. Galveston, Corpus Christi
and Sabine City, and the adjacent waters are
now in our possession. He says a short time
ago he sent down on the coast of Texas, Acting
Volunteer Lieutenant J. W. Kittridge, with
the bark Arthur, the little steamer Sachem,
and a launch, with which force he said he
could take Corpus Christi and the , waters adja
cent, whence we heard of Ito Many small crafts
running to -Havana: .
He succeeded very well, took the Owes,
made several captures, and compelled the ens
my to bum several of their vessels, but on one
occasion venturing on shore with his small
boat, he was . surrounded, taken prisoner and
carried to Houaton, where they paroled him on
condition that he should go , north and not serve
until regularly exchanged.
I next sent the Remington, acting master
Crocker commanding, with the Rachael, Sea-,
men, and a /winch with a howitzer, to Sabine
Pass. He too; succeeded well. He found tit
the bar one of the mortar schooners, Henry
Jones acting master, Pennington "commanding,
whom he invited to take port with him which
he did, and according to acting master Crocker's
report, performed his duty with great credit,
they took the fort, rind are still going ahead
finely, having taken several prizes, one of
which arrived here on yesterday with dis
patches. •
I next sent Col: Piershaw with the gunbottis
Oweaco, Harriet Lane, Clifton and Westfield to
take Galveston, which he did In the shortest
time and without the loss of a man:
It appears that the first shot from the Omasco
exploded directly over the heads of , the men at
and.around the big gun their main reliance
and the enemy left. A flag of truce was hoisted,
and the preliminaries arranged for a surrender,
which took place on the 9th inst.

Only in the journals of the enemy, but in the
minds of intelligent foreigners on this side of
the Atlantic. It is known that on the:strength
of this calculation of our national existence

The-Has:miner of the Bth, speaking of the re
'snit of the Northern election; says :
"Them astounding manifestations from the
North convey the idea of an emphatic and im
pressive popular verdict against the Abolition
faction which has ruled* the Government at
Washington. The northern papers* attempt to
lesson the value of the results of the electioni
in the eyes of the south. The value, however,
determined by the citrumstances, that the
principaildea on whkh the recent canvass in
the North was conducted, was that the Demo
crats were a peace paity:in disguise, and with
this issue thrust in their faces; the people of
the three most powerful States in the North
have given unprecedented . majorities to the
Democratic candidates; and a blew to . die Abo
litionists at the ballot boxes that will stagger
'them into the background.'
Twenty-eix; Federal pilsoners.are announced
as having been recetved at the cabby Prison on
Thursday night, via Lynchburg; and seven
prisoners were received on Filday from the
White House.
The likaminer complain; that "While the sol
diers whp enlisted to fight are engaged at
Dnny's and Chapin's Bluffs in felling trees and
ditching, up to their knees in mud and water,
Richmond is full (Alive negri•es and slaves, the
extent of whose occupation is obstructing the
markets. The Yankees set an example to our
authorities in the employment of negroes."

Colonel Dome, at Fort Henry, telegraplut as
follows : .
"General Ransom has doubtless had aught
with Woodward yeaterday afternoon. At 3P.
M. heavy cannonading wee heard at Fort ttenry
evidently between Hopkiosville and Lafayette.
Nothing has been received from Bans= per
sonally."
Col. Dome also telegraphed about 8 o'clock
in the evenhrg, as follows ; •
"At.. 9 o'clock lest night our cavalry, the
Fifth lowa, from General Ransom's command,
were pursuing Woodward. The report now is
that there was an engagement yesterday with
1,600 rebels, in which our troops were victo
rious. It is also reported that the rebels have
been re-enforced and meditate an attack on
Fort Henry.
The intelligence from Lagrange is contra
band, and although known here yesterday wait
not allowed to be transmitted.
The small pox is raging among the contra
bands to a fearful extent. Fifteen or twenty
more were attacked to day.
cite intelligence from Lagrange," referral
to above, may be guessed at from a despatch iu
the Richmond papers, dated Holly Springs,
Miss., Nov. toth, which says the Union forces
had advanced in force to Lagrange, and Were
