PENNBLVANIA INVADED.
One Hundred Thousand Men Wanted.
I==a=9
The Governor issued another proclamation
last evening, calling for 'FIFTY THOUSAND
of the freemen of Pennsylvania, to repel the
invasion of our State.
There is no use of disguising the fact, the
enemy has invaded our State ; commenced the
destruction of the railroad from i lligerstown to
f.
Chanibersburg, and we have no doubt, if not
checked will soon lay onr homes desolate ; but
we have an abiding confidence in the loyalty of
the' people of Pennsylvania, they are now
rising in their might, from all parts of the
country we hear the noble response.
We advise every man, woman and child to
keep calm, assist their husbands and, brothers
to prepare for the meeting of the enemy. We
have nothing to fear if our people do their
duty, and we have no doubt of the result•
THE SITUATION.
A reliable man just returned from Frederick
informs us that he was .in Frederick on the
10th of September, Tuesday, and that the re-
bets broke up their encampments at half-past
one o'clock that morning, and marched In the,
direction of Hagerstown; Stonewall Jackson
leading. He saw them marching from their
numerous encampments from 5 a. at. to 9 P,
the time he left Frederick. They were prftwipal
ly infantry and artillery„ the latter munberrink
over three hundred pieces, some of which were
very large.
Generals aobert E. lee, Jackson, Cobb and
other generals were present. He saw, as he
snpposed, 5,000 cavalry near New Market,
whh*.had not left camp.
Saw.rainy pieces of cannon marked " 11. S,'•
and also many horses, mules and wagons mark
ed in the same way.
The opinion prevailed among all the soldiers
that they were going to Pennsylvania.
LATEIL.
Since the foregoing was received, reliable in
formation has been obtained that Stonewall
Jackson with his advance is now is Hailers
town, preparing to move with the whole army
on Pennsylvania. •
Scouts from &mover, Gettysburg and Taitey.
i town late this evening, confirm the evacuation
of the camps at Frederick by the 'rebels.
: The Governor has promptly advised the
Piesident and Generals in command at Wash
ington of all information - that has reached him
through the numerous channels under his
control. The most active mammas are
being put in force to assemble a
large army to resist invasion, and, if possible-
save our capital and State from devastation
and outrage from the : enemies of the Govern
ment.
Bythia evening 60,000 men will ba in motion

The number in the column was variously esti
mated at itom 15,000 to 40,000. _k portion of
them came directly through . Frederick, and the
bolance laid 'previously beeh camped on the
Emmittsburg road north- of Frederick. The
enemy had not advanced toltrumittsburg, nor
had there been any pickets nearer Westminster
than about five miles beyond Union bridge.
W 6 als6 leant that a proclamation to 'the
people of Maryland had been issued by Gen.
Lee. He profeesess to come to redeem the
"downtrodden people of Maryland" from the
yoke of Uncle Sam, which is grinding them to
the earth.
Parties who arrived at Union bridge from
Frederick state that a number of young men
of Frederick bad started out to join the rebel
army but that most of them seeing the for
lorn condition of the men came to the conclu
sion that they could not stand such a service
and prudently returned to their homes.
The best order had been kept in Frederick
by the Provost Guard, 'and the stores had been
cleared of all kinds of produce, and wagons and
vehicles had been pressed into the service to
move it off. One merchant had eight thousand
dollars of Confederate scrip in his possession,
which had been given, him for his stock of flout,
at the rate of $l6 per barrel. They paid for
everything they took in this kind of money,
and although some of them had United States
Treasury notes they would not part with theni.
They even refused to receive in change any of
their own money, demanding Maryland notes.
Of course the storekeepers dare not refuse. The
farmers of the surrounding , country had also
suffered similarly in the seizure of their stock,
and the sympathizers of Jeff. Davis have fared
in this respect the same as the Union men.
Frederick county will long remember this
visit of the "redeemers of My Maryland," who
have destroyed their substance like a swarm of
locusts. Washington connty commences Ito
suffering today.
The rebels are said to complain that their
reception in Maryland is note° cordial as they
anticipated, and have :looked vein for the
insurrection they.expected in Baltimore, and a
rally of the faithful to their flag, in 'Western
Maryland. Those who have been sending
prayers to Jeff. Davis to come to their rescue,
have not, they say, rushed forward to welcome
them.

OUR FORCES AT POOLBSVILLE
The Rebels Throwing all their Available
Forees into Maryland.
Advance of the Federal Forces
Rocs, Sept 10, P. X
Poolesville, about ten miles from here is the
farthest point up the river we now occupy, but
as to 'the movements generally it would now
be improper to Speak. No, word recently been
received of Col. Miles who has been occupying
Harpers Ferry. The impression is, that he has
left that point by this time, as it would be im
possible for him to hold that position while
the enemy occupy Frederick, and may march
upon Harper's Ferry, which is anticipated.
No one seems to have any definite knowledge
of the numerical force of the enemy now in
Maryland.
There is now no doubt that the enemy are
throwing all their available force into Mary
land. Two deserters from the . Twenty-fourth
North Carolina regiment arrived here today.
Thcy state that two , of their brigades marched
directly from Richmond-to. Frederick. The
supply trains of the rebels continue to cross
into Maryland, but none are known to return.
Our troops advanced this morning.
