rendering marriage, itc., impossible.
Young Men
especially, who have become the victims of Solitary
Vice, that dreadful and destructive habit which
ly sweeps to an untimely grave thousands of Young
Men of the most exalted talents and brilliant intellect,
who might otherdise have' entranced listening Medea
with the thunders of eloquence or waked to ecstasy the

fidently rely upon his skill as a Physician.
Immediately Cared, and full vigor Restored.
This distressing Ailliction..mtdch renders 11le misera

victims of improper mdulgeacee. Young persons are too
apt to commit excesses from not being aware of the
dreadful consequences that may ensue. New, who that

proper habits than by the prudent Besides being, de

Indigestion, Constantioat I Debility, a Wanting of the

States, and the greater pert of whose We has been spent
in the hospitals of London, Parts, Philadelphia and else
where, his effected some of the most astonishing oures
that were ever known • many troubled with ringing : In
esa bead and ears when asleep, great nervousness, being

Dr. J. addresses all those who have injured themselves
by improper indulge ce and solitary habits, which ruin
both body and mind, unfitting them fdr either busineedi
study, society or marriage.
These are some of the sad and ma'am:bony effects pie.

Back and Limbs, Palos in the Head, Dimness Sight,
Loss of Muscular. Power, Palpitation of the heart, Dye

to be dreaded-4mo of Memory, Confusion of Ideas D
epression of Spirits, hint Forbodings, Aversion to So ciety,
Self Distrust, Love of nolitude, Timidity , dc., are some of
the evils produced.
Tnousantat of persons of all ages can now judge what
la the cause of their declining health, losing their vigor,
becoming weak, pale, nervous and emaciated, having a
singular appearance about the cynr, cough and symptoms
of tionsumption.
Young Ken
Who have neared themselves by a certain practice in
didged In when alone, a habit frequently learned from
eta companions, or at school, the effects of which are
nightly felt, even when asleep, and if not cured renders
marriage Impassible and destroys both mind and body,
should apply immellately.
What a pity that a young man, the hope of his coon.
try, the darling orbits parents, should be snatched !rem
all prospects and enjoyments of fife, by the consequence
of deviating from the path of nature and indulging in a
certain secret habit. Such persons noel, before eontem
plaung
redact that& sound mind and wily are the most neces
sary requisites to promote connubial happiness. Indeed,
without these, the journey through ltfc becomes a weary'
pil gr im a ge ; the prospect hourly darkens to the view ;
the mind becomes shadowed with despair and filled with
the melancholly red . elton that the happiness of another
becomes blighted with our own.
Disease of Imprudence.
When Um mi.gulded and unpr 'Meat vagary of pleasure
Endo that he has Mathieu the seeds of this painful dis
ease, it too often Wens that an 111-timed sense of shame
Or dread of discovery, deters him from applying to those
who, from clucation and respectability, can alone
be-
Mend him, delaying till the conetlintional symptoms on
this horn d disease make their appearance, such sa ul
cerated sore throat, diseased noes, nocturnal pains in
the head and limbs, dimness of sight, deafness, nodes on
the shin bones and arms, blotches on the It ad, face and
extremities, progressing with frightful rapidity, till l a
last the maids of the mouth or the bones of she nose fall
in, and the victim of this awful dinars become a horrid
object of commiseration, till death puts - a period to his
dreadful sufferings, by. sending him to that Updhscov
vered Country from whence no traveler returns."
It: is a iseleacholly fact that thousands fall victims in
tido terrible disease, owing to the unskilesliness of igno
rant pretenders, who by the use of that Dewily Poison,
Mercury, ninths constitution and make the residue o
life miserable.
on
Trust not your lives, o h eatth, to the care of the many
Unlearned and Worthiaes Pretenders, destitute of know
ledge, name or charade', who copy Dr. Johnson ' s adver ,
verthiements, or style themselves in the' newspapers,
regularly educated Physicians incapable of Curing, they
keep you trilling month after month taking their filthy
and poisenonsness compounds, or as long as the smallest
Abe c an be obtained, and 111 despair, leave you with ruin
ed health to sigh over your galling disappointment.
Dr. Johnson is the only Physician advertising.
His credential or diplomas always bangs In his antes.
His remedies or treatment are unknown to all others;
prepared from a life spent in the gr sat hospitals of Eu
rope, the first in the country and a more extensive PAo
vale Practice than any other Physician in the world.

THE MARYLAND INVASION•
The Latest From Frederick.
Rumored Movement on Hagerstown
The Defence of Baltimore.
From the SalUmore American of last evening.]
The excitement in the city has greatly abat
ed, owing to the fact generally known among
the people that the most ample preparations
have been made by the Government authori
ties to intercept any movement in the direction
of Baltimore.
This morning General Benly received his ap
pointment to the command of a brigade of
troops to be useettn the defence of Baltimore.
The well known energy of General Nerdy,
his superior local knowledge of all that pertains
to Baltimore, makes this appointment a most
desirable one. No General could be appointed
to a post more in accordance with his personal
feelings than the defence of his native city from
the tread of the invader.
Latest from Frederick
A gentleman - , who le ft Frederick yesterday at
noon, reports the most perfect quiet and good
order as prevailing in the city. 'there hue been
no invasion of private nail% though some of
the rebel citisens seemed disposed to urge such
a course on the part of the soldiery.
Bradley Johnson was in command as Provost
Menthol, and was runniog about among the sit
liens preaching conciliation and kindness. His

Tho /Meet intelligence front Frederick indi
cates that the main body of tee rebel army, al
tar iiatiebig out on the Emmitteburg toad some
ten miles, took a• road to teal -lett leadi g di
rect to Hagerstown, at which place it is said
ttte advance arrived this morning. There hi
said to be a fedrral force in the vicinity of Ha
geratown, and there may be a fight there.
The impression is now gaining ground that
the rebel movement is merely a raid into Mary
land, intended to draw the great body of ve
teran troops from Washington in their pursuit,
while the main rebel army makes a dash on the
works in trent of Washington. The fact that
the troops that passed through Frederick have
gone west towards Hagerstown would indicate
a probable purpose on their part to dash back
into Virginia by way of Williamsport and Mar
tinsburg. They would thus obtain all the
boots, shoes and clothing in the two cities of
Frederick and Hagerstown, probably secure
some arms that have been accumulated for
them by rebel sympathisers, with cattle and
provender, and other supplies.
Many equally well informed, think that
the" movement on Hagerstown is to compel the
evacuation of Martinsburg, and leave an open
road for the main body of the rebel army pre
paring to cross the Maryland line in that three
lion from whence they will move through the
Ohjabensburg Valley . toward. Harrisburg.
PICICSIS : 41*AILD3 BAXMXOIIII
The movement of the rebels - so far towards
Baltimore, consisted in the stationing of a
picket guard yesterday within seven miles of
Weetmter, which caused a very general
stampede of the citizens from that town. They
remained•there during the day yesterday, and
are reported to have disappeared during the
night. . - -
Another picket appeared on the Frederick
mod yesterday, at Poplar Springs, thirty-six
miles from Baltimore, and about eighteen Bailee

during afternoon and started back the;

7so fearsneed be entertained by our citizens
of a rebel raid towards Baltimore, as every pre

and destruction, let the force be what it may.

On Friday evening before the apootrance of
the rebels there was consid table ut a disturb
ante in Frederiek. Seme parties connected
with the; Citizen newspaper cheered on the
streets for Jeff. Davis in the exuberance of
their joy, and were knocked down by citizens.
The Provost Guard interferred, and a man
named Lawson, one of the proprietors of the
Citizen, was knocked down with the butt of a
musket and considerably injured. Another
man named Yeackle woe also badly cut.
The Rebels of Frederick knew of the coming
of the insurgent army long before any intima
