Attempted Resistance to the Iwollment Act.

A-skirmish _took-Place'yesterday near Point
Pleasant Missouri, between the citizen, and
State troops, in which it is reported that several

enrollment act. Troops were sent from New
Madrid to enforce the law, and hence the colli
sion.
Sr. Lours, August 7.—Brigadier General Day
idaon has assumed command of the military
district of St. Louis. Col. Merrill, formerly
commandant of thisdistrict, bas bees commis
sioned a Brigadier General, and will leave for
North Missouri this evening, where he will di
rect the operations against the guerillas.
At a meeting of the Merchant's Colon Ex
change, held at noon to-day, resolutions ware
peeled agreeing to close the business houses at
four o'clock P. x., for the purpose of drilling
and organising the:loyal ns for military
service, and. requesting the proper authorities
to
,cause suspension of, business throughout
the 'city after that lionr for a like purpose.
THE QUOTA OF CEIENTER COUNTY MOBS
The quota of volunteers under the late call,
