tuting the army of the South-west, he desires
to express his high appreciation of the einfur
ance, behavior and soldierly conduct which
they have exhibited on all occasions, and to
express to the coinmanders of the army corps
and their subordinates, the warmest thanks for
their cordial co-operation. He says the sol
diers have nobly done their duty, and. accom
plished much towards crushing this wicked
rebellion, and if they continue to exhibit the
same vig ilance , courage and perseverance, it
believedis they will bring the war soon to a
