LOOKING , GLABBEIL —We advise all persons who intend to buy a handsome looking glass at the lowest city price, to go to W. Knoche's store, No. 98 Market street, and examine the stock of glasses which be has just received. They consist of oval and square glasses of the best quality, and are framed in superior gilt and rosewood frames. At the same place can be found angst music and musical instruments of every description. Tinerrr Houses Wren—Mr. Editor.— Capi. talists are doubtless aware of the large per cent age they can make on their money, besides the great service they would thereby render " to wards the increase of population and general prosperity of our city, by the erection of ten ant houses' There is a great demand for houses, and many families will be compelled to leave the city for want of a house to rent. There are many houses in the western part of the city that are paying the owners from twelve to twenty per cent. on the investment over and above all taxes. It is to be hoped that capatalh3ts of our city will at once supply this demand. A Crrizert. Randall, a printer em ployed in the Government printing office at iti,"ashington, and well, known to the craft gen orally, was killed on the railroad near the Ra lik" Home, Md., last Saturday. "I knew him well, Horatla." Re was highly respected for his many amiable qualities. Genial indisposi tion, with a hand open as day to "melting charity," none ever came within his presence' without being impressed that . upon his brow "every god did seem to_set his seal, and give the world assurance of a man." Never was the language of the great dramatist more ap propriately applied than in the present in stance. It is unnecessary to recapitulate his many virtues; they are embalmed in the hearts of his sorrowing friends, and it needs nathing from us to fan the flame of memory. The deceased leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss, Amur oa Dissareas. —Two men named Kreger and Macklin, arrived here on Sun da* last, 'by the Lebanon Valley cars, in the custody of an officer, charged with being. de sertere from Capt. Seymore's Artillery company of regulars, at Camp Greeble, from which place they escaped last Monday. The men were from liiththond, Mt. Bethel. They enlisted about six weeksago. On . Monday morning lad they asked the Captain to loan them ten dollars to sea& to their. wives in Mount. Bethel. The officer gave them the money and permladento go to Harrisburg to send At oft; lows decamPed and lirooeeded to' Me. Bethel, travelling part of the way On coal trains to arrive home the sooner. As soon as the Cap talk found the men had deceived him, he sent word to his recruiting officer at Easton, Ser geant Cook, who went to Richmond, where he found the deserters and brought them with him. The fellows came along with the Ser geant with much reluctance, and were quite chop•fallen, having, previous to their arrest, supposed that they were safe from the clutches of Uncle Sam. On arriving at Easton: .they were taken to the National Hotel, and while supper wort being prepared for them they got off again, about 9 o'clock in the evening, but were caught again at 11 o'clock and lodged in the Easton jail for safe keeping until dianday morning, when they were brought to this city, by the Express train.
