of :hose disagreeabdities increased with time, and about
tour months since a fourth was added to them, by hair
falling off the top of my head and threatening to make
me bald.
In this unpleasant predicament, I was induced to try
Wood's Hair Restorative, mainly to arrest the falling
off of my hair, for I had really no expectation that gray
hair could ever be restored 'to its original color except
from dyes.' I was, however, greatly surprised to find
after the use of two bottles only, that not only was the
falling oil arrested,-but the color was restored to the gray
hairs and sensibility to the scalp, and dandruff ceased to
form on my head, very much to the gratification of my
wife, at whose solicitation I was induced to try IL

in bringing her before you pow, is to call attention to a
remedy which has 'recently been re commended in the

highest terms, having derived great benefit from its use
in 250 cases which came, under hip care. Various co in

SAME CASE FOUR DAYS LATER)
.
MAT 23,.1880.—1. Will now. exhibit to you the . patient for
whom I prescribed Propybinilee, and wasthee labor
ing under an attack. et , acute rheumatism. Bile has
steadily taken it in doses of three grains every two hours
((intermitting it airtight) The day after you:saw her, I
found her much more comfortable, better than she ex
pected to be for a week or more, judging from her other
attack. (The patient now walked into the room.) The
improvement kas steadily progressed, and you cannot
fail to notice a marked change in the appearance of her
Joints, which are now nearly all of their natural size.—
Thus far our experiment would have seemed very suc
cessful; but, gentlemen; we must wait a little while be
fore we can give a decided opinion as to what is to be
the result.
Here is another patient who was placed on the use of
the same medicine on Sunday last ; she has long been
suffering from c furor& .rheumatism, and I found her at
that time with an acute attack supervening upon her
chronic affection. The wrists and knuckles were much
swollen and tense. She took the chloride of Propyla -
mine in three grain doses every two hours, and you will

MAY 26, 1860.—Thiejs the case of acute rheumatism
treated with propylamine, the first of those to which I
called your attention at our last clinic. She is still very
comfortable, and is nowt doing three grains thrice daily.
In this case It has seemed to be followed by very, sat,
isfactory resells. The second c use to which your atten•
don was called at our last lecture, has also continued to
do well. I will now bring before you a very character
istic ease of acute rheumatism, and if the result be eat
factory, I think, as good jurymen, we shall justly render
our verdict in favor of propylamme
He is a seaman, ant. 26, who was admitted a few days
ago. Has bad ocaasional rheumatic }Jams, but not so as'
to keep his bed, until eight days ago. The pains began
in his right knee, subsequently alfected the left knee, and
biter, the joints of the upper extremities. These joints
are all swollen, tense anti tender. His tongue is furred, ;
his skin, at present. dry, though there has been muc
swea t ing. His pulse is fall and strong, and about 90.
He has taiw used eropylamine for twenty-four hours.
This gentleman is what, may be called a strictly typical
ease of acute rheumatism. There was exposure to cold
and wet, and this exposure is followed by a feeling of
coldness, severe articular pain, beginning, as it usually
does, in the lower joints. Mere is fever and the profuse
sweating, so generally atttendent on acute rheumatism.
I did net bring this patient before you, with the i nten
lion of giving you a lecture on all the points connected
with rheumatism, but to again give a trial to the
new remedy we are testing, and to exhibit to you this
typical case, as I have called it, than which there co uld
not bee fairer opportunity for testing the medicine in
question. We are, therefore, avoiding the use of all
other medicines, even anodynes, that 4here may be no
misgivings as to which was the efficient` remedy. Yo u
shall see the case of a future clinic.
NEW YORK
Justice, 1860.—The next of our convalescents 19 the
case of acute rheumatism before you at our clinic of May
26th, which I then called a typical case, and which it
was remarked was a fair opportunity for testing the
worth of our new remedy, It was therefore steadily
given in three grain doses every two hours for four days.
The patient has got along very, nicety , and is now able to
walkabout, colon see. • not hesitate to sly that I
have neves seen as severe a case of ,acute. rheumatism
so soon restored to health as this man has been, and
without being prepared to decide positive by as to the val-
ue of the remedy we have used, I feel bound to state
that in the Cases in which we have tried Lhe Chloride o
Propylamine, the patients hive regained their khea Ith
much earlier than under the treatment ordinarily pur.
sued. I wish gentlemen, you would yourselves try it,
and report the results. .
For a full report of the above is a eondensed
