restore lie parts afflicted to a headily condition. This
Band is also a most powerful asn•Mnscumai agent, and

edge what your Nareaparilla, has done for me. Raving
inherited a SorofulOue infetition, have suffered from it
in various ways for years. Sometimes it burst out in
Dicers on my hands and arms ; sometimes turned in
ward and distressed me at the stomach. Two years ago
it broke out on my head and covered my scalp and ears
with one sore, whiet was painful and loathsome beyond
description. I tried many medicines and several physl-
CUM ? but without much relief from any thing. In fact,
the disorder grew worse. At length 1 was rejoiced to
read in the Glospel Messenger that you had prepared an
alternative (Sarsaparilla,) for I knew irom your rep.
oration that any thing you, made must be good. , I sent
to Cincinnati and got it and used it till it cured me. I
took it, as yen advise, in small doses of a teaspoonful
over a month, and used almost three bottles. New and
healthy skn aoen began to form under the scab, which
after a while fell off my akin is now clear, and I know by
my feelings that the disease :boa 'gond from my system.
You oat well believe that I feel what I am saying when
I tell you, that I hold-you to be one of the aiostles of the

Edward S. Marrow, of NeWbury, A.M., writes, "A dan

Mew ORLEANS, 25th August, 1959
Dr. J. C. Avail Sir r l cheerfully comply with the re
quest of your agent, and report to you some of the effects
I have realized with your Sarsaparilla.
I have cured with it, in my practice, most of the com
plaints for which it is recommended, and have found its
effects truly wonderful in the cure of Venerai and Afer
curial Diseases. One of my patients bad SyphiLitic ulcers
in his throat, which were consuming nil palate and the
top of hie' mouth. Your Sarsaparilla, steadily taken,
cured him in live week. Another was attacked by sec
ondary symptoms in his nose, and the ulceration had eat
en away a considerable part of it, so that I believe the
disorder would soon reach his brain and kill blni. But it
yielded to my administration of your Sarsaparilla:
ulcers healed, and he is well again, not of course without
some disfiguration to his face. A woman who had bees
treated for the same disorder by mercury was suffering
trom this . polseu tu her - bcieee. They had become so
sensitive to the weather that cm a damp day,she suffered
excruciating Cain iu her joints and bones. She, too, was
cured entirely by your Sarsaparilla la. a - fewweeks. I.
know from its formula, which: yett.agentlave me, that
this Preparation from your laboratory . must be a great
remedy ; consequently, Attlee truly remarkable results
with it have not surprised-nie;

[FRox OPIUM EceerreL REPORTS.]
MAT 19, 1860,—Ellen S., set. 28, single, never was very
strong. Two years ago she bad an attack of acute rheuma
lismorom which she was confined to her bed for two weeks
and subsegentiyfrom a relapse far four more. Shehas been
well since then till lust gator day, while engaged in house
cleaning, she took cold, had pain in her back, felt cold,
hot had so decided chill. Two days later heft ankles be
gan so swell, which was :followed by swelling of the
knee joints and of the hands. She has now dull
pain in her shoulders, and her knuckles are very tender,
red and painful; both hands are affected, but the right
is moot so. This, then, is a case of acute rheumatism , or,
as it is now fashionably oalfed, rhenmatio lever. - tits a
well remarsed typical case : We will carefully watch the
case, and from time to time call your attention to the vari
ous symptoms which present themselves. My chief object
in bringing her before you now,. is to call attention to a
remedy which has recently been recommended in the
treatment of rheumatism. I mien propylamine. Dr.
Awenariue, of St. Petersburg, recommends it In' the
highest terms, having derived great oenetit trom its use
in 250 cases which came under his care. .Varions com
mendatory testimonials respecting it pave appeared in
our journals, and 1 propose therefore to give it, another
trial I must confess lam always incredulous as to. the
Werth of new remedies, which are vaunted as opacities ;
but this comes to us recommended so highly, that we
are bound to give it a trial.,
SAME DASF, FOUR DAYS LATER !
MAY 23,1880.- - 1 will now exhibit to you the patient for
whom I prescribed. Propylamiue, and was then labor
ing under an attack 01 acute rheumatism. iiihe has
steadily takerrit in'doses of three grains every two hours
(intermitting it at Wight.). The day after you saw her, 1
Mond her much more comfortable, better than she ex
pected to be for a week or more, judging from her ot her
attack. Ole patient now walked into the • room.) The
improvement Msiteudily :progressed; and; yon outset
fail to notice a marked change in the appearance of her
joints, which are now nearly all 'of their natural size .
Thus far our experiment would have seemed very sue.
cage! ; but, gentlemen, we must wait alittle while be
fore we can give a decided opinion as to what is to be
the result.
Here is another patient who was placed on the use of
the same mediae,. on Sunday last ; she has long been
suffering from o bionic rheumatism, and I found her at
OM time with an acuto Attack supervening upon her
chronic affection. The wrist; and knuckles were much
swollen and terse. She took the chlorided Propyla
mine in-three ,grain dams every two hours, and yea' will
perceive that the sivolling ol- the joints has much dimin
ished.
THREE DAYS LATER !I
MAT 26, 1860.—This;is the case of acute rheumatism
treated with propylamine, the first of those to which I
called your attention at our last clinic. she is still very
comfortable, and is now t acing three grains thrice- daily.
In this casii it, has seemed to bat followed by.very, sat
isfactory results. The second o -se to wisieh:yeur atten
tion was called at our last lecture, has also continued to
do well. • I will now bring before you a very character
istio case of acute thsuatatism, and if the result be-sat,
factory, I think; as good jurymen, we snail justly render
our verdict in favor of propylammz
He Is a seaman, set. 26, who • was admitted a few days
ago. Has had occasional , rheumatic pains, but not so as
to keep his bed, until eight days -ago._ The pains began
in his right-knee, subsequently affected the left lam and
n
later, the Joints of the upperatremlties. These joints
aro all swollen ; tense and tender. ,Riabougne is furred ;
his skin, at present • dry; thong' there Jim- been much
sweating. His pulse is full and strong, and about- 90.
Ile has now roma propylsmino for twenty-four hours.
This gentleman is what may be called a strictly typical
ease of acute rheumatism. There was exposure to cold
and wet, and this exposure is followed by a feeling of
coldness, severe articular pain, beginning, as it usually
does, in the lower joints. there is fever and the profuse
sweating, so generally atttendant on acute rheumatism.
I did not bring this patient before you with the Intact.
thin of giving.you a lecture on ntitbe points connected
with rheumatism, but to again give a trial to the
new remedy we are testing, and to exhibit to you this
typical case, as I have:called it, tiutn which there co uld
not be a fairer opportunity' for testing the .medielue in
question. We are, therefore, avoiding the use • a all
other medicines, even ,auolynes, that there may, be no
misgivings as to which was the efficient remedy. You
shall see the case of a future CUR). ' '
THE RESULT.
A FAVORABLE VERDICT
Ras 9, 1660.—The nest of our convalescents is the
case of acuterbeumatiem before you at our clinic of Nay
261 h, which I. then called a typical case, and which it
was remarked was a fair , opportunity for tatting the
worth of our new remedy, It WAS therefore steadily
given in three grain doses everytaro hours for Four days.
The patient has get along very nicely, and is now able to
aalk about, .as you flee. Ido not, hesitate to s y coat I
have neves, seen as.ievere a case of acute' rheumatism
so'soon restored Ni• health •as this man has been; and
without being prepared to decide positive oy its to the val.
ue of the remedy we have nsed, I feel .bound to state
that in thi cases in which we 11 . 4ve tried the - Chloride of
Propylamine, the patients hive regained •' their health
much earlier than under the treatment ordinarily pur
sued. .I.wish gentlemen, you .woutd yourselves try it,
and report the results. •
For a full report at which the above is a condensed
extract, see the Philadelphia Medical and Surgical Be
porter. 11 Is the report after p fair trial by the bestmed-

to give numerous certificates from astonished doctors
