Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, Boils,
Blains, and all skin Diseases.
OAKLAND, Ind., 6th June, 1859.
J. C. Arse Az Co., Cents I feel it my duty to acknowl
edge what your Sarsaparilla has done for me. Having
Inherited a Scrofulous infection, I have suffered from it
in various ways for years. Sometimes it burst out in
UiCef aon my hands and arms ; sometimes turned in
ward and distressed me at the stomach. Two years ago
it broke out on my head and covered my scalp and ears
with one sore, whieh was painful and loathsome beyond
description I tried many medicines and several physi
chtus, but without much relief from any thing. lu fact,
the disorder grew worse. At length I was reioiced to
read in the (impel Messenger that you had prepared au
alternative (Sarsaparilla,) for I knew rem your rep•
utation that any thing you made must be gond. I sent
to Cincinnati and got lt, and used it till it cured me. I
took it, as yen advise, in small doses of a teaspoonful
over a month, and used almost three bottles. New and
healthy eke eoen began to form under the scab, which
after a while fell off my skin is now clear, and I know by
my feelings that the disease has gone from my system.
You csn well believe that I feel what I am saying when
I tell you, that I hold you to be one of the ai.ontles of the
age, and remain ever gratefully. Yours,

Dr. Ronert M. Preble writes irom Salem, N. Y., 12th
Sep., 1859, that he has cured an Itivekrate ease or Drop
sy, which threatened to terminate fatally, by the perse

iaek of Malignant trysipelas by large doses of the same
says he cures the common Eruptions by it constantly.
Bronehocele, Goitre or Swelled Neck.
Zebulon Sloan of Prospect, Texas, writes : '•Three bot
tle, of your Sarsaparilla cured me from a Garrsa—a hid
eous swelling on the neck, which I had suffered from
over two years."
Leucorrhcea or Whites, Ovarian Tumor,
Uterine Ulceration,Female Diseases.
Dr. J. B. S. Quitting, of New York City, writes ; "I
most cheerfully comply with tho respect of your agent
in saying I have found your sarsaparilla a matt excellent
alternative in the numerous complaints for which we em
ploy such a remedy, but especially in Female Diseases of
the Scrofulous diathesis. I have cured many inveterate
eases of Leucorrhosa by it, and some where the com
plaint was caused by ulceration of the uterus. The ul
ceration itself was soon cured. Nothing within my
knowledge equals B fdr these female derangements."
Edward S. Marrow, of Newbury, Ala., writes, "A dan.
gerous ovarian tumor on one of the females in my family,
which had delled all the remedies we could employ, has
at length been completely cured by your Extract of Sar
saparilla. Our physician thought nothing but extirpa
tion could afford relief, but he advised the trial at your
Sarsaparilla as the last resort before cutting, and it
proved effectual. After taking your remedy eight weeks
no symptom of the disease remains."
Syphilis and Mercurial Disease.
NEW OILFANS, 25th Auguet, 1959
Dr. J. C. Ayes : Sir, I cheerfully comply with the re
quest of your agent, and report to you some of the effects
1 have realized with your Sarsaparilla.
I have cured with it, in my practice, most of the com
plaMts for which it is recommended, and have found its
effects truly wonderful in the cure of Veneral and Mer
curial Diseases, tine of my patients had Syphilitic ulcers
in his throat, which were consuming his palate and the
top of his mouth. Your Sarsaparilla, steadily taken,
cured him in five week. Another was attacked by sec
ondary symptoms in his nose, and the ulceration had eat
en away a considerable part of it, so that I believe the
disorder would soon reach hie brain and kill him. But it
yielded to my administration of your Sarsaparilla: the
ulcers healed, and he is well again, not of course without
some disfiguration to his face. A woman who had been
treated for the same disorder by mercury was suffering
from this poison in her bones. They had become so
sensitive to the Weather that on a damp day she suffered
excruciating oats in her joints and bones. She, too, was
cured entirely by your Sarsaparilla in a few weeks. I
know from its formula, which you agent gave me, that
this Preparation from your laboratory must be a great
remedy ; consequently, these truly remarkeblo results
who it have not surprised me.
Fraternally yours,
G. V. LARIMER, M. D.

DR. J. C. RIBS: Sir, I have been Maimed with a pain
ful chronic Rheumatism for, a long time, which baffled
the skill of physician, and stuck to me in spite of all the
remedies I could ha ~ until I tried your Sarsaparilla'.—
One bottle cured me In two weeks, and restored my gen
eral health so much that I am far Dotter Mae before I
was attacked. I think it a wonderful medicine.
J. BREAM.
Jules Y. Getchell, of St. Louis. writes : "I have been
afflicted for years with an affection of the Liver, which
destroyed my health. I tried every thing, and every
thing Jailed to relieve, me ; and I have been a broken
down man for some years trout no ther cause than de
rangment ef the Liver. My beloved pastor, the Rev. hir.
Espy, advised me to try your Sarsaparrilla, because ho
said he know you, and anything you made was worth
trying. By the blesaing of God It has cared me. I feel
young again. The beat that can be said of you is not
half good enough."

Many remarkable cures of these affections have been

overcomes disorders which would be supposed beyond
its reach. Such a remedy has been required by the ne

do for them all that medicine can do.

[Fsox OFFICIAL Hoarrtu REPORTS.]
MAY i 9, 18611,—Ellea S., wt. 28, single, never was very
strong. Iwo years ago she had an attack of acute rheuma
tism, from which she was confined to her bed for two weeks
and subseqent,y tram a relapse fer four More. She has been
well since thou till last Bathe day, while engaged In house
cleaning, she took cold, had pain in her back, felt cold,
hot had so decided chill. Two days later her ankles be
gan so swell, which was followed by swelling of the
knee joints and of the hands. She has now dull
pain in her shoulders, and her knuckles are very tender,
red and painful ; both bands are affeAed, but the right
Is most so. This, then, Is a case of acute rheumatism, or,
as it is now fashionably called, rheumatic lever. It 93 a
well remarked typical ease We will carefully watch the
case, and trom time to time call your attention to the vari-
OdS symptoms which present themselves. My chief object
in bringing her before you now, is to call attention to a
remedy which has recently been recommended in the,
treatment of rheumatism. I m au . propyl amine. Dr.
Awenarius, of ft. Petersburg, recommends it in the
highest terms, haying derived great oeaedt from its, use
250 cases which came under his care. Various com
mendatory testimonials respecting it have appeared In
our journals, and I propose therefore to give it another
trial, I must confess I aal always incredulous as to the
worth of new remedies, which are vaunted as specifies
but this comes to us recommended so highly, that we
are bound to give it a trial.
SAME CASE FOUR DAYS LATER
Max 23,1860.—1 will now exhibit to you the patient for
whom I prescrihed ?ropylimine, and was then labor
ing under an attack ot acute rheumatism. She has
steadily taken it in doses of three grains every two hours
(intermitting it at night - 4 The day after you saw her, 1
wand her much mere comfortable, better than she ex
pected to be for a week or more, judging from her of her
attsca. - (The patient now walkea into the room.) The
improvement has steadily progressed, and you cannot
fail to notice a marked change in tee appearance of her
Joints, which are now nearly all.of their natural size .
Thus far our experiment would have seemed very suc
cessful ; but, gentlemen, we must wait a littla while be
lore we can give a decided opinion as to what is to be
the result.
Hare is another patient who was placed on the use of
the same medicine on Sunday last; sho , has long been
suffering from o himnic itheiimalism, and I found her at
that time with an acute attack supervening upon her
chronic affection. The wrists and knuckles were much
swollen - and tease: She took the chloride of Propyla
mtne in three grain doses every two hours, and you will
perceive that the swelling of tire joints has much dimin
ished.
THREE DAYS LATER!!
Rix 26, 1860.—This.is the case of acute rheumatism
treater with propylamine, the drat of tame to wuich I
called your attention as our laat °Unto, brie is still very
comfortable, and is now taking. three grains thrice daily.
In this case it has seemed to be followed by very. sat
islactory results. The amoral c .se to wuich your att en
don was called at our last lecture, has also continued to
do well. I will now bring before you a very character
istic case of acute rheumatism,. and if the result be Bab
factory, I think, as good jurymen, we snail justly render
our verdict in favor of propy famine
He is a seaman, set. 26, who was admitted a few days
ego. HaS ha 4 ocaasional rhenmatic pains, but not so as
to keep his bed, until eight days ago. The pains began
in his right knee, subsequently affected the left knee, and
later, the joints of the upper extremities. These joints
are all swollen, tense atm tender. ..#ls tongue is furred ;
his skin at present dry, though there his been much
sweatinjs. 13ts pulse is full and strong, and about 90.
He has now, used propylamiuo for , twenty-tour hours.
This gentleman Is what may be called a Strictly typical
case of acute rheumatism. There we's exposure to cold
and wet, and this exposure is foLlowed by a feeling of
coldness; severe articular pain, beginning, as it usually
does, in the lower joints. There is fever and the profuse
sweating, so generally atttendant °deem° rheumatism.
I did net bring this patient before you with the i nterb
lion of giving you a lecture on all the points connected
with rheumatism, but to again give a trial to the
new remedy we are testing, and to exhibit to you this
typical case, as I have called it, than which there co uld
not be a fairer opportunity - for testing the medicine in
question. We are, therefore, avoiding the use of all
other medicines, eves anolynes, that there may be no
misgivings as to which was the efficient remedy. You
shall see the case of a future clinic.
THE RESULT
A FAVORABLE VERDICT
IMO 9,1660.—The next of our convalescents is 3 the
case of acute rheumatism before you at our clinic of May
26th, which I' then called a typical case,. and which ik
was remarked was a fair opportunity ter testing they
worth of our new remedy, It was therefore Steadily
given in three grain closes everytwo hours for four days.
The patient has got along very nicely, and is now able to
Balk about, as you see. Ido not hesitate to sty that I
have nevea seen as severe a uses of acute rheumatism
so soon restored to health as this man has been, and
without being prepared to decide positive by as to the val.
ue of the remedy we have used, I feel bound to state
that in the cases In which we have tried the Chloride of
Propylamiue, the patients hive regained 'their health
much earlier than under the treatment ordinarily pur
sued. I wish gentlemen, you would yourselves try It,
and report the results.
For a full report of which the above is a eondensed
extract, see the Philadelphia' Medical and Surgical Re
porter. Ills the report after a fair trial by the best med
ical authority in this country, and makes It unnecessary
to give numerous certificate' from astonished doctors
and rejoicing patients.
