Oismaun, Ind., 6th June, 1859.
J. o."Airsa & Co., Gents : I feel it my duty to ackhowl.
edge what your Sarsaparilla has done for me. Having
inherited a Screfultus infection, I have suffered from it
in various ways tor years. Sometimes it buret out in
Maps on my hands and arms ; sometimes turned in
ward and distressed me at the stomach. Two years ago
it broke out on my head and covered my scalp and ears
with one sore, whieh was painful and loathsome beyond
description I tried many medicines and several physi
cians, but without much relief from any thing. In fact,
the disorder grew worse. At length 1 was rejoiced to
read in the tiospel Messenger that you had prepared an
alternative (Sarsaparilla,) for I knew irom your rep.
minion that any thing you made must be good. I sent
to Cincinnati and got it, and used it till it cured me. I
took it, as yon advise, in small doses of a teaspoolifnl
over a month, and used *most three bottles. New and
healthy skit scan began to form under the scab, which
after a while fell off my skin is now clear, and I know by
my feelings that this disease has gone train my system.
You c.n well believe that I feet what I am saying when
I tell you, that I hold you to be one of the ainstles of the

Dr. Bogert M. Preble writes irom Salem, N. Y., 12th

lack of Malignant Erysipelas by large doses of the same
says he cures the common Eruptions by it constantly.
Bronchocele, Goitre or Swelled Neck.

over two years,"
Leueorrhcea or Whites, Ovarian Tumor,

Dr. J. B. S. Channiug, of New York City, writes ;

the Scrofulous diathesis. 1 hive cured many inveterate
cases of Leueorrhtes by it, and some where the com

kowara S. Marrow, of Newbury, Ala., writes, "A dan.

at length been completely cured by your extract of Sar

New ORLEANS, 25th August, 1959.
Dr. J. C. Area : Sir, I cheerfully comply with the re
quest of your agent, and report to you some of the effects
I have realized wits your Sarsaparilla.
1 havdeured with it, in my practice, most of the nom
' pla'nts fur which it is recommended, and have found its
effects truly wonderful in the cure of Veneral and Mer
curial Diseases. One of my patients bad syphiliiic ulcers
in his throat, which were consuming his palate and the
top of his mouth. Your Sarsaparilla, steadily taken,
cured him in live week. Another was attacked by sec
ondary symptoms in Ins nose, and the ulceration had eat
en away a considerable part of it, so that I believe the
disorder would soon reach his brain and kill hum But it
yielded to my administration of your Sarsaparilla: the
ulcers healed, and he is well again, not of course without
some disfiguration to his face. A woman wno had been
treated tor the same disorder by mercury was suffering
irom this poison in her bones. They bad become so
sensitive to the weather that on a damp day she suffered
excruciating 'lain in her joints and bones. She, too, was
cured entirely by your Sarsaparilla in a few weess.
know from its formula, which you agent gave me, that
this Preparation from your laboratory must be a great
remedy ; consequently, these truly remarkeble results
with it have not surprised me.

HAY 19, 1860,—Ellea S., mt. 28, single, never was very
strong. 'lwo years ago she had an attack of acute rhemna
tiam, irom which she was confined to her bed for two weeks
and subseqent,y irom a relapse fer four more. She has been
well since then till last Salmi day, while engaged in house
cleaning, she took cold, bad pain in her back, felt cold,
hot had so decided chill. Two days later her ankles be
gan so swell, which was followed by swelling of 'Me
knee joints and of the hands. She has now dull
pain in her shotilders, and her knuckles are very tender,
red and painful ; both hands are affet.ted, but the right
is most so. This, then, is a case of acute rheumatism, or,
as it is now fashionably called, rheumatic fever. It is a
well remaraed typical case. We will carefully watch the
case, and trom time to time call your attention to the veld
oas symptoms which present themselves. My chief object
in bringing her befere you now, is to call attention to a
remedy which has recently been recom mended in the
treatment of rheumatism. •1m an propyl amine. Dr.
Awenarius, of St. Petersburg, recommends it in the
highest terms, having deriveu great content from its use
in 260 cases which came under his care. Various co m
mendatory testimonials respecting it have appeared in
our journals, and I propose therefore to give it another
trial. I must confess lam always mcreduleas as to the
Worth of new remedies, which arc vaunted as specifies ;
but this comes to us recommended so highly, that we
are bound to give it a trial.
SAME CASE FOUR DAYS LATER !
MAT 23,18130.—1 will now exhibit to you the patient for
whom I prscribed Propylamtne, and wit s then label ,
ins under an attack 01 14131.1t0 rheumatism. Oho has
Steadily taken it in doses of three grains every two Minns
(intermitting it at night.) The day after you saw her, I
found her much more comfortable, better than she ex
pected to be for a week or more, judging from her other
atteca. ( the patient now walked into the room.) The
improvement has steadily progressed, and you cannot
fail to notice a marked change in the appearance of her
joints, which are now nearly all of their natural size.—
Tnus far our experiment would have seemed very suc
cessful ; but, gentlemen, we must wait a hells while be
hire we can give a decided opinion as to what is to be
the result.
Here is another patient who was placed on the use of
the same medicine on Sunday last ; she has long boen
suffering from o nronic rheumatism, and I found her at
that time with an acute attack supervening upon her
chronic affection. The wrists and knuckles were much
swollen and tease. She took the chloride of Propyla
mine in three grain doses every two hours, and you will
perceive that the swelling of the joints has much dimin
ished.
THREE DAYS LATER !!
Max 26, 1860.--This is the case of acute rheumatism
treat° t with propylamine, the first of tame to waich
called your attention at our last clinic, hue is still very
comfortable, and is now taking three grains thrice daily.
In this ease it has seemid to he followed by very, sat
islactory results. The second case to winch your att en
dun was called at our laSt leciire, has also continued to
do well. I will now bring before you a very character
istic case of acute theutnatism, and if the result be sat
factory, I think, as good jurymen, we snail justly render
our verdict in favor ef propylamine.
He is a seaman, tot. 26, who was admitted a few days

He has now used propy, annue for twenty-fear hours.
This gentleman is what may be called a strictly typical
case of acute rheumatism. There was exposure to cold
and wet, and this exposure is followed by a feeling of
coldness, severe articular pain, beginning, as it usually
does, in the lower joints. There is fiver and the profuse
sweating, so genera.ly attieudaut on acute rheumatism.
I. did not bring this patiet4 Salute you with the i men

new .ainedy we are testing , and to exhibit to you th is
..ypnati case, as I have called it, than watch there no old
um be a fairer opportunity for testing the medicine in
question. We are, therefore, avoiding the use of all
other medicines, eves anolynes, that Vier.: may be no
misgivings as to which was the efficient remedy. You
shall see the case of a future clinic.
THE RESULT.
A FAVORABLE VERDICT
Juss9, 1869.—The next of our convalescents le the
case of acute rheumatism before you at our clinic of May
26th, which I then called a typical case, and which it
was remarked was a fair opportunity, fur testing the
worth of our new remedy, It was therefore steadily
giveu in three grain doses every two hours for four days.
The patient has got along very nicely, and is wily able to
a alk about, as yuu see. Ido not hesitate to s to at I
have nevea seen as severe a case of acute rheuinatiem
su soon restored to health as this man has been, and
without being prepared to decide positive op as to the val.
ue of the remedy we have used, I feel bound to state
that in the cases in which we hive tried the Chloride of
Propylamioe, the paiieuts'h ivo regained their health
much earlier than under the treatment ordinarily pur
sued. I wish gentlemen, you would yourselves try it,
awl report ttte results.
For a full report of which the above is a eondensed

porter. It Is the report after a fair trial by the best med
ical authority in this country, and makes it unnecessary
to give numerous c ertificates from astonished doctors
and rejoicing patients.
