The following officers have been ordered to duty
as the staff of Gen. Robert Anderson ; they are
to report at Cincinnatti on the 30th inst: Capt.
Green, Assistant adjutant General; Capt. Han
cock, Assistant Quartermaster; Capt. Symonds,
Commissary of Subsistence; Capt. Perine, corps
of Eugineer; first Lieut. Michler, Topographi
cal Engineer; Surgeon Cuyler, Medical staff.
Major Woodruff, of the corps of engineers, is
ordered to report immediately to General Dix,
to relieve Capt. Perine.
Orders have been issued to attach the second
regiment of Fire Zouaves of New York, to Gen.
Sickles' brigade. The selection of Colonel is
left to its own officers. It is understood that at
the request of General McClellan to-day, the
President has directed a commission to issue to
Brigadier Sickles, thus conferring upon him
that rank.
The following named officers have been ap
pointed on Major General Hunter's staff :
Capt. Fry, Assistant Adjutant General ; Capt.
L. W. Jaruen, Commissary of Subsistence; Capt.
Shaeffer, of volunteers; Lieut. Edward Smith, of
15th infantry, and Lieut. Stockton, of the 4th
cavalry, as aid de camp.
The board appointed for the purpose have
just completed the examination of the propo
sals for and drawings of fast screw propeller
steamers, in answer to an invitation of the Navy
Department to secure sixteen or eighteen ship
builders and constructors of marine engines.
The invitation was made in consequence of
the representations of many persons that much
faster vessels than those now in the navy might
thus be obtained. Such steamers were required
to move at a rate of fourteen miles an hour.
Of those shipbuilders and engine oonstructors
only two parties responded to this requirement,
and even what they proposed was not satisfac
tory to the board.
The pickets of the rebel army are reported to
be nearer to our fortifications across the river,
than they have ever been before. But it is not
believed that they have any design to make an
attack. Should they do so, anywhere, they
will get a warm reception.
