WASHINGTON SAFE.
We.douht not that the safety of Washington
city is now secured, says the Bulletin of :last
night. The railroad from Annapolis to Balti
more is in the hands of the Federal GoVern
naenkaiid Ala believed that the rails that, had
been removed have been relaid loy this time.
The road will be well guarded along its whole
length, and will be used for transporting troops
and supplies. By this time it is probable that
several thoutand good and well disciplined vol
unteers have been added to the troops in
Washington city, and communication with the
Northern States through Maryland will be
kept up, no matter what the Baltimore mob
may say on the subject. If any serious , ob
struction should be offered, the Government
may compel Baltimore herseif to allow a free
passage through her own streets. There is
power enough to do it, and but little more
provocation is needed.
