Sympathies In the United States.
Heurax, April 18.
The intelligence of the bombardment of Port
Sumpter reached this city this forenoon. The
Legislature, amidst intense emotion, passed
the following resolution by a unanimous vote:
" Resolved, that this House has heard with the
deepest sorrow and regret of the enthral& of
civil war among their friends and neighbors in
the UzdteffStates, that this House, without ex
pressing an opinion upon the points in contro
versy between the contending parties, sincerely
lament that those who speak their language
and Shire their civilisation should be shedding
each:others blood, and desire to offer up their
fervent prayers to the Father of the Universe
for the restoration of peace.
