No Time for Concession.
So far as we are aware there is not a
solitary Republican journel in this State
that advocates or desires a compromise,
to be obtained by concession to the slave
holders! The Republicans of the old
Keystone hold' that Mr. Lincoln was
elected President in accordance with the
Constitution ) and do not intend, as a eon
dition precedent to his inauguration, to
cowed, amendments to ,the Constitution
extending and perpetuating slavery and
slaveholding domination. Besides; if
under present threats of disunion, they
consent to amend, the COnstitution, they
know that four years hence other amend'
events will' be demanded, under similar
threats. It Will be pint as easy for traitors
to violate and disregard an amended Con
stitution, as it is to oveithrow the present
one by secession. The laws must be en
forced, and the integrity of the Union
must be preserved, under the present Con
stitution. And if that cannot be done
now, it never can be d2ne; and therefore
the present Government don't amount to
a Government at all, and is not worth
tinkering up at the sacrifice of every prin
ciple hitherto held sacred.
PEA.OBABLE ,SEciEssio.ttr.--The friends

GARRISON STRIKING HANDS WITH
SOUTH CAROLINA.—In the Liberatdr, of a
late date, Mr. Garrison closes a review,of
his thirty years of editorialservice to that
journal, with the following exultant pro
phecy of disunion—an event to which he
has unceasingly 'directed his energies :
"At last 'the covenant with death' is an
nulled and 'the agreement with hell' bro.
ken—at least, by the action of South ,
Carolina, and, ere long, by all the slave
holding States, for their doom is one.-

nessee, in the United States House of
Itepresentativee, a few .days ago. Hail
the approaching jubilee, ye millions who
are wearing the galling chains of - slavery,
for, assuredly, the day of youtcredemption
draws nigh, bringing liberty to you, and
salvation to the whole laud !".
RIDGE TANEY.--7he Washington Re
publican saps that at a dinner at the Pre
sident's, given to the Judges of the Su.
promo Court, Chief .1 tistiee Taney remark
ed that he should admiuister the oath of
office to Mr. Lineolu, he was obliged to
go to Springfield to do it. The secession
gentlemen who have been threatening to
raise a mob-to prevent the inauguration
43f Lincoln in the usual way, will find be
fore they are. mud' older that the spirit
of patriotis6 is not dead in this'ooentry,
and that enough of it survives to quash
all treasonahle schemes.
A COSTLY ADMINISTIMTION.--A
graphic epitome , of. Mr. 13ttehanan's ad
ministration is contained in the following
brief extract from a Washington letter in
the Philadelphia North American :
Three hundred millions of dollars will 'have
disappeared by the 4th of March next, for four
year's administrAti Al of th, governnent io time
of profound peace with all tile world. What is
-to show for this criminal exteavagance and mal
appropriation ? Nothing but a distracted coun
try, a beggared TreAsurv, au enormous debt,
and a deficient reveriu •• 'These are the results
of Mr. Buchanan's single term. " '
ET TII ERuTE I—lt is said that the
Washington Constitution is abont to open
fire on the Presiclmut.. They, will denounce
him editorially as a betrayer of all his
