Mountein Herb Pills," bas spent the greater part of his life in travelling, having visited neatly every' country in the world He spent over six years amen the Rocky Mountains and of Mexico, and it was thus that the "Mown,* HERB Pima" were discovered. A very interesting account of his adventtires there, you will find in our Almanac and Pamphlet, It is an established tact; that ah ditatiies arise from IMPURE The blood Is the life I and when any foreign or un healthy matter gets mixed with it, it is once distrbuted to every organ of the body. Every nerve feels the poison, atid'all the vital organs quickly complain. The stomach will! not digest the food perfectly. The liver ceases to secrete a sufficiency of bile. The action of the heart Is weakened, and so the circulation is feeble. The lungs be come clogged with the poisonous matter ; hence a cough' —and-all from a slight impurity of the founndri-head of lile—the BMA I As if you had thrown' some earth, for instance, in a pure spring, frem which ran a tiny rivulet in a few minutes the whole course of the stream be, comes disturbed and discolored. As quickly does impure blood fly to every part, and leave its sting behind. All the passages become obstructed, and.unless theebstrue don is removed, the lamp of life soon dies out. - These pills not only purify the blood, but regenerateidl the secretions of the body, they are, therefore, unrivalled ma' CURE FOR BILIOUS DISEASES, Liver Complaint, Sick Headache, &c. This Anti-Billow Medicine expels from the blood the hidden Seeds of dis ease, and renders all the fluids and secretions pure and fluent, olearing and resuscitating the vital organs.... Pleasant indeed; is it to us, that we are able to place within your reach, a medicine like ..thp ' , Motu:atm Ems- Pius," that will pass directly. to the ailiitned parts, through the blood and fluids of the body, and cause the a offerer to brighten with the flush of beauty and health. A New Will o' the Wisp in Central Amerioal* Ifwe are to credit the statement made by a Correspondent of the Courier des Etats Unfit, a new and exceedingly practicable route has been discovered across the great Central Amerlean' isthmus. . It follows the Rio Grande, which flows ink; tbei Atlantic in Honduras, and is said' to be navigable for eighty miles, the remaining distance consisting of a broad .plateau, which presents no serious tibstacles to the construction of a ri3l road. = • The writer may be entirely trustworthy, as , that journal represents him to be; but whether of not, we regard attempts to discover new routes across any isthmus in the Central Ame rican states as idle and worthless. Running to catch the rainbow would be about equally sen sible. These transits have nearly all proved Will o' the Wisps, which kept flitting before the eyes of deluded stockholders, until they plunged head and ears into the mud. Hun dreds of thousands of dollars have thus been thrown away, scores of valuable lives have been sacrificed in these projects, which, with the exception of Panama, have proved about as serviceable as the discovery of the Northwest passage. In the present divided and demoralized con dition of those petty republics the people and rulers alike appear to be indifferent respecting the future, desiring nothing but to secure as much as they can gain, by way of bribes or bonuses for transit privileges, which are likely, after all, to prove delusive. Were they pos sessed of either common sense or public spirit, they would encourage foreigners to undertake the construction of works, which'must exercise such an immense influence in promoting their best interests; but thus far not one of them has evinced such a degree of penetration. It is supposed that the government of New Granada will not renew the charter of the Panama rail "road company, except on the-payment of an immense bonus, which is likely enough to be applied in furthering the selfish schemes of the thousand aspirants for power and place in that country. It is fully time that we had' abandoned all those unprofitable schemes, and applied our selves as a nation to the construction of a rail road across our own territory. A late telegraph ic despatch announces the dirrovery of a pass practicable for railroad purposes through the - Rocky mountains, near the 48th parallel. It is described es being 2500 feet lower than any Previously found in that mountain system.— It is probably too far North to affdrd the best accommodations to settlers on the way; but we have no doubt the engineering skirl and perseverence which have enabled us to cross the Alleghenies at so many points, will also triumph over the obstacles presented by that backbone of the North American continent, if the effort be only made in good earnest. There is no necessity why the general gov ernment should either build the road or indi cate the router which must be seleeted, and there are very good reasons why it should interfere in neither. To be finally successful Its construction and management must he kept out of the.vortex of party politics, All that is proper, all that is really necessary, is to offer reasonable inducements, in return for services to be rendered, leaving the builders .to select such a route as shall appear to furnish the greatest amount of business, from alt, sources:. The local and through interests to be bene fitted and likely to yield the largest income would seem to make St. Louis one of the termi ni, while the other would rest upon San Fran cisco. The Pike's Peak settlement will call for a rail road across the plains at a very early date, if the supply of gold should continue to hold out; and the cities of Denever, Aurelia, Rte., should be stations on the throughroute if pessible,. Beyond these points it is impossible to indicate the most advantageoue direction to belaken for crossing the great central basin.— We merely express the hope that it may yet be found practicable to run aline from Pike's Peak to Utah Lake, and thence West by North to the Humboldt river, following the latter to its termination and approaching within a mod erato distance of the Washoe silver mines.— The passage of the Sierra in that neighborhood would for the present seem to. be utterly im practicable, and a rail road would be obliged to bend for some distance to the Northward,' cross ing the mountains near Kalmath lake on the borders of Oregon, where easy passes are known to exist, and whence connections could be made 'b o oth with San Francisco and the valley of the Columbia. But this is given as a mere opinion, which is likely to be modified by discoveries and events about to take place within a short period. But where there is a will there is a way.— The next two , years, we trust, will see this great national enterprise , commenced; while its com pletion ought to take place by 1870. As a people we require the Pacific railroad, and will have it. Let us then cease to chase after rain bows in the isthmus of Tehuantepec, Honduras or Nicaragua. By leaving those semi-barbarous races to take care of themselves for a dim, they will learn to appreciate American enter ptiseett something like its true value, and be glad to assist such-a@ may be of a legitimeti character. But the Pacific - Railroad is "the gland object upon which our national energies must be concentrated, and that with the resolu tion and perseverence shown by Cato when he "called for the destruction of Carthage DRINKING -FOUNTAINS AND Testugastos.—The Metropolitan free drinking-fountains of London are 'effecting much for temperance. An associa tion has been-formed. I believe, through the agency 'of a Mr. Gurney, fur the erection of these fountains; and that distinguished noble man, Lord Shaftesbury, is now at the head of . this, Us, indeed, of almost every benevolent effort to 'benefit 'the poor. It hes often bben exceedingly difficult for the poor and labeilok classes to obtain a drink of pure water,: and. multitudes have thus been compelled to, go to the public houses and drink ale of beeri'when they, would not have done so if water bctuld have been obtained. The object (if the associa tion is the erection, in suitable'publie thbrough-. fares, of neat and artistic fountains, supplied with pure water. One bindied have already been erected. Most of them :are beautiful. as works of art, and many of them have Scripture inscriptions, which are read by 'the fitilli6n, and which, by God's. blessing, may be a word. in season to. some weary souls: The inscriP• tions are suchlis the following: "Whosoever drinketh of this water'shallt thirst agiin,- but whospe, ver. driukel lk of the water that I shall , 'give filieelialtnvet.
