the proceeds of the sale of the Cemetery, which
amounted to upwards Of $4,000, but afterwards
refused to pay the same over to the SeCond

The Rev. Mr. 11. 3 Caully made a most 016-

'quest and able appeal on behalf of the mem
orialists, and his efforts weie seconded by the
Rev. Mr. Millet; of York, thrnierly of Read-
ing. Several other ministers also took an
active part in the cliscussiob of the memorial.
The subject was finally referred'to a special
committee, consisting of Sev. S. Phillips,
Dr. Bomberger, Rev. Kr. Groh and Elder
Griffith and Butz.
This subject oturfe up again, in •its . regular
order. ' • "
The Rev. Mr. Schneek made some remarks
urging the necessity of prompt action, settle
subject had already led to a prolonged discus
sion; but many of theministers still persisted
to, debate the report. 'The queationwastnally
taken and the catechism was rejected by 17
yeas to 28 noes. The report accompanying
the catechism .was referred to a special com
mition,'ln.order to prepare proper minutes. f
the action on the same by ,the Synod. The
committee consists of Revds. 'Dr. Schneck,
Apple, F: Kremer, Elders Rodonmoyer
and Hassler. • . •
Elder Rodenmoyer submitted the following

The preliminary examination of the prisoners
captured at Harper's Ferry, commenced this
morning before-the-Magistrate's Court. The
following, magistrates occupied the bench.:—

men. A guard was stationed around the court
