Ts n Srnmo Faison°Dis.—The Spring elec
tions will take place on Friday the 18th of
March. To many this may appear lik - e.an
un
important event, while in fact it is that which
mosts directly interests them. The actions
of borough and township officers come more
directly to the voter and oppress or benefit
him more immediately than 'do the' acts of
members of Congress or the Legislature; con
sequently, the selection of good, competent
officers is as much desired at the Spring as at
the Fall election. Those who pay no atten
tion to the selection of borough or -iciwliship
officers, or do not attend the elections, have no
right to complain if the officers do nok,:a/t to
their pleasure. The good of the connit*ity
depends, to a certain extent, upon. the•actions
of its immediate home rulers; therefore,.`ihey .
should be selected with due care. •
Particular care should be taken in each dis
trict to commence the great Presidential pam
paign of 1864 aright by carrying the -vpring
elections.
