had the pleasure bf examining, tidsnOining,
at the clock, watch and jeivelry establishment
of A. F. Zimmerman, Market streety-a, very
curious and a very accurate clock, which ex
hibits the daily dates in every month, with a
correctness that is astonishing, while it
also indicates the time aCcurately. Jo ma
chinery this clock 'is regarded as the Oat
triumph of the age—and it is certainly one
of the greatest achievements of mechanism
ever exhibited for the inspection of the people
of this city. Mr. Zimmerman is the sole agent
fo? these clocks. He invites the public to Lii

introducing them for general use in this part
of the State.

THE AMERICAN COVSIN r , of Sanford's, is one
of the burlesques you read of, full of fun
and comic illustrations, and is drawing full
houses. The rare attractions presented by San=
ford !nre - very - commendable.; The people
relish his entertainments with much gusto,
but the great feature of the season now in
preparatiOn and to be produced at a great
expense, is the pantomime of Mother'Goose—
one of ye old English pantomimes, always per
formed in London during the Eastern holi
days. This great scenic and trap play will
be performed on theAlst; during which time
a continued vaii7ty *ill be given. To-night is
the last of, the American Cousin. On Monday
evening the Pour Lovers. of one the Ravels
comic pantomimes. See , bills of the day.
ROUSE'S COMEMATION TROUPE.—The hall
was crowded again, last night, to overflowing.
The company is meeting with the success that
no other company ever met with in this city.
Uncle Tone:v .- Cabin was played last night; and
was splendidly performed. The role of George
Harris was . well su.stained:by Mr. J. W. Jen
nings. In this character ho shows the de
termination of a poor slave—one, who has a
mind of his Own, and that freedom
would 'bring happiness - to him. Miss Tyson
well sustained the character of Eliza, the noble
girl, from whom her child was about to be
torn and sold to a trader, and who, rather
than part with it, fled from her master. Miss
Fanny Denham, as Topsy, finely delineated
the character of the poor nego—one who his
been raised by speculators for sale: There is
a new addition to the companyawell-Imown
literary gentleman, Willie Ware, the author
of Driftwood and other good works. This
gentleman took the character of Lawyer
Marks, i which he sustained very well. Mr.
Dunn as Mr. Shelby, Mr. Crossen as Legree,
well sustained their parts. Mr. Rouse ap
peared as Phineas Fletcher. This character
was a southern gentleman of northern princi
ples, and who has some good feeling for the
poor slave. He helped the noble slave
George Harris, to gain liberty and happiness,
and rejoin his wife and child.. Poor Uncle
Tom, was well sustained by Mr. F. L. Kent
This -character he personates in a splendid
manner. Mrs. Dunn appeared as Mrs. St.
Clair, and Miss Wilford as Aunt Ophelia, and
little Alike Jennings as Little Eve; although
very young, this little gid wins the affections
of the audience, by the beautiful manner in
which she' performs her part in the great
FLIT.
Tze. STIR TROITPE offers a fine bill of at
tractions 'for this, evening. It consists of
that thrilling drama, Lucretia Borgia, and a
very fine piece called The Bonny Fish-Wife.
The cast could not be better, and the manager
deserves the thanks of our''play-goers for the
,superb style in.which the pieces are.produced
here. From the manner in which our people
patronizelhe company; we are led to believe
that they consider it one of the institutions of
the city. It is decidedly the best troupe that

DEAR tans :-- , Mrs. Ban, will you please
pardon me for.th'e - liberty that I have taken in
addressing you, a stranger. I feel myself
under obligationi to pin for that 'benefit I have
derived from your inedicine .and 'eye salve,
having suffered for many years most excruci
ating pain in my head, breast and side, not
being .free from pain day citnight. And I
have been doctoring with well-skilled and
practical physicians for some years,
,and all
attempts proved-,a failure. ihad g tve l i up all
hopes of - recOvery' - and felt fully' resigned to
await my fate, which foretold an untimely
grave. My father being a resident of Siddons
burg; and living quite a distance from, you, I
did not g,et to hear of yourinedicine--that has
proved a wonderful cure indeed. Some few
months ago I was advised by a lady friend of
mine to try your medicine. She stated to Inc
that she made use of your medicine and salve
which proved a cure. Feeling rather loth at
first to try, as I had laid out money limo - after
time, which made the eipenties way licavY
and all for naught. But having. great confi
dence in my friend's integrity, I was pioznpted
to hearken to her kind entreaty anti try for
myself. I therefore purchased two dollars and
a half worth of your mediciue s 'and, to my
utter astonishnient, in one week ,rfelt a great
change, and in two weeks was, entirely free
from all pain, and your eye salve perfected a
cure for which all other washes and salves
proved useless. My eyelids' were so much
inflamed that I was forced to wear glasses for
some years, and now I have no occasion at all
to wear the glasseS, my eyea being well. I
therefore have resolved, dear lady, to let you
know that I could not rest content. until I
would return my heartfelt • congratulations to
you, my friend and benefadress, for the good
you have accomplished, feeling myself a new
creature entirely.
You are at' perfect liberty to publish this if
you feel so ineliued. I close by requesting
you to accept my warmest regards, with a
hope that for humanity's sakeryour life may
be prolonged. Success be Yotirs ,fpreYer in
performing the wonderful,cure,
Yours - with respect; ,
