eight rebel prisoners, and sixty-five guards;
passed through here at half-past five o'elbek

aware. They hailed from the West. About
fourteen hundred prisoners „ have passed
through here this week.

A. DEN of prostitution, at the corner of
Front street and Cherry alley, was'entered by
the police, early yesterday morning, and nine
persons, six men and three women, were ar
rested and taken before Alderman 'Kline. L.
B. Freese and his so-called wife, keepers of
the house, were committed for trial; and the
others discharged. We hope the police will
continue in the good work.

ted this morning at Bell's store, corn i 'd of
Second and Chestnut street. White -' those
connected with the store were titaioliffi to
duties which called them from the vicinity of
the money drawer, some person reached'Over
the counter, opened the drawer,.. and- ; took
therefrom a small book that contained about_

THE occupants of the lock-up last night
were Charles Martin, David Taylor, Michael
Rutlege, Margaret Dutcher, Isabella Murry,
Elizabeth Collins, John ;Datighorty, Henry
Futhrie and John Magie. The crowd was
composed of vagrants, drunks and disorder
lies. ' They had a hearing before Alderman
Mine, this morning, and were, discharged,--
those who had money paying their fines.
Romnair.--A soldier named Hiram Ruling
was arrested to-da - Y, 'on a 'Charge of robbing
Mr: Frank A. Murray;-of this city, of $B3 in
money, a watch mid a pistol. Ruling was
taken before Alder Man Kline for a hearing,
when- the watch, pistol, and most of the
money were found in his possession, and iden
