Tax Seventy-seventh Regiment Penna. Vol
unteers has re-enlisted. This regiment was first
commanded by Col. Stambang6 subsequently
promoted to Brigadier Gotland. The Colonel
who succeeded him was killed at Stone River,
There are about two hundred men remaining
of the thousand who filled the ranks, of, the
77th when it Marched forth to defend the
Union.
The 46th Pennsylvania Regiment, Col. Curtin
commanding, bee also re-enlisted "for the
war:" . They are now at Knoxville, Tennessee,
and it is expected that they will soon receive a
furlough to return home

Since the article appeared, Capt. Baird -has
published a card in the Juniata Sentinel, denying

card will suffice, for the present, to contradict
the slanders uttered against Dr. Chariton, and
we shall, at the proper tide, publish a full re
port, commencing" with the origin of the
chatges, the ... appointment and instlgetors. of
the affair, together with their . final report,
which, we feel confident in saying, will acquit
theaeZharged with malfeasanco entirely. Here
is the card of Capt. Baird, - which contradicts
the article in the Ibry Organ of this morning.

citizens of the Fourth ward was held at the
Hope Engine House; last evening, for the prir=,
pose of taking action in regard to raising tbd
quota of the ward to exempt it froth the draft.
After a full discussion of the matter, it was de
termined that a committee of six should be
appointed to wait tipOik the City Council and
request that body to offer a bounty of two
hundred dollars for volunteers.
A committee was appointed, consisting of
Messrs. John Smull, William Kuhn, Asdrew
Moyer, Sullivan S. Child, J. F. ;Seiler' and
M. - 13. Montgomery, Who waited upori'Councij,j
and stated their business, and showbiethe
vantages to be gained by offering a' bounty
volunteers: Mr. litiu?yer, of the Council, of
fered a series of, resolutions, viz: That the city
offer'a bounty of two hundred dollars to all
accepted volunteers who may enlist to fill the
quota required ; that "a loan be made sufficient .
to pay said bounty,.and that the Legislature
be requested to legalize such a loan. Mr.
Maeyer also offered a resolution that; when the
Council adjourn, they agree to meet on Tow
day evening neat to consider the above resolu
tions relative to offering a .bointy, 'and that
Councilcall a meeting of the-citizens'of the
city in the Court House this (Saturday) evening
for the purpose of obtainisg . the, iews of said

DM, for famishing this Department with Fifty
(50) tons of Hay, 2,000 pounds per toe, the
Hay to be baled and of the best mercßantable
quality ; subject to such iniprotion as I may
direct.
Propo:als for delivering the Hay loose will be
rarebit d.
Each party obtaining a contract will be re
quired to enter into bonds, with appioved
sureties, for its faithful execution.
The Department reserves to itself the right
to reject any or all bids if not deemed satisfac
tory.
Proposals will be addressed to Captain J. G.
Johnson, Aset. 4 M. Vols., Harrisburg, Pa.,
and endorsed "Proposals to furnish Forage."—
Any information relative to the general prices
of grain and hay is solicited. ._ '

made to appear that the First. National Bank
of Harrisburg, in the county f Dauphin and
State of Pennsylvania, bias been'dilly organized
under and according to the requirements of
the act of Congress, entitled '!An - act to pro
vide a National currency, secured by a pledge
of United States stocks, and to provide for the
*circulation and redemption thereof," approved
February 25th, 1868, and has complied with
all the provisions of said act, required to be
complied - with before commencing the business
of banking.
Now, therefore, I, Hugh M'Culloch, Comp
troller of the =nag, de hereby certify •that
the First National Bank of Harrisburg, county
of Dauphin and State of Pennsylvania, is au
thorized to commence the business of banking
under the act aforesaid.
