DEVITOND YOUNG Gurts.—Several young girls
mysteriously disappeared from Z mesvibe and
Putnam, Ohio, on Saturday last. Two of them
were arrested at Columbus, on Monday, and
hid in their possession a large number of anony
mous letters from soldiers in the Western army.
They alleged that they were going to Cincinnati,
where they would be taken charge of by a cer
tain Captain, who would conduct them as "hos
pital nurses" to Tennessee. They were evident ly
the victims of some designing rascals, who had
found them out by means of that most vicious
and dangerous practice of "army correspond
ence," now so prevalent all over the country.
The girls are all highly respectable, and their
alliance created intense angu:sh in the minds of
their parents.
