dis Patch received from St. Louis, last night, in
hich was an extract from a rebel paper, stating
that the , rebels were hopeful of , the election of
Vallatkligham and Woodward. ' Didn't it suit
the Organ:grinders ? .
DROWNED AND KILL ID.—DR last Saturday or
Sunday, Corporal Sheely, a member of Captain
Theo. F. Singizer's company, from this place,
whose lathet resides about; a mile and a halt
East of town, was drowned while attempting to
cross the Potomac: We have'not learned any
of the particalars of his death. His body was
Urought to Harrisburg yesterday, and ; from
thence home last.evening for interment.
Yesterday intelligence was received here; stat
ing that George L Shutt, a member of the same
company, and residing in this place, was klned.
No particulars as for' s we can learn,' acconk•

THE SECOND PRIMMER:IAN CHEROH.—The re
ligious services of the Eecopd Presbyterian
church' will be held, to-morrow, in the Hall in
Tanner's Alley. Preaching in the morning at
half past ten o'clock, and in the evening at
seven. .
Services were discontinued in the Hall for
two Sabbaths, partly on account of their being
interrupted by those who have but little regard
for the light of divine truth, but arrangements
have been made to prevent such interruptions
hereafter.. We hope that the services will be
largely attended, and civilizstion and christi
tinny will increase throughout the Streets and
alleys of the city.

on the , passenger train between *arrisburg and
Williamsport, a vote was taken on the queation
of Governor, which resulted, forty-five fOr Cur
tin and five`for Wockiward: Judge Woodward
was a passenger in. the cal., unknown to the
gentleman who canvassed. When applied to,
he answered that he had "not yet made up his
mind as to how be should vote—the people
would knoW that after the election." The car
was'ahnost exclusiVely filled with Ditheran
clergylnen and laynnen, on their return from
the meeting of the Lutheran S ynod at Milton:

assembled in large numbers at Hooker's tavern
last evening. Thu meeting gave full assurance
that the spirit of old Derry is aroused. The
watch fires of freedom burn brightly in that

600 Barrels Fresh Ground Extra Flour.

To be delivered at the rate of 200 bbls. per
week, commencing within five days from the
date of acceptance of the bide. Bids must be
legible, brands stated and , numbers written as
well as expressed in figures. Samples must ac
company every proposal. Each bid, to have
consideration, must contain in it the written
suarrantee of two responsible persons, as fol
lows:
"We, the undersigned, hereby- guarantee,
should all or any part of the accompaying bid
be accepted, that it shall be duly fulfilled ac
cording to its true purport and conditions."

Ail flour will be carefully Linspected and
compared with the retained samples. Pay
ments to be made atter the delivery of the
flour, if funds are on hand, if, none on hand, to

agent of the government, or employed in the
public service.
The undersigned reserves the right to reject
any bids considered exorbitant or not comply
