On my way from Washirstot2 to Pennsyl
yenta I stopped fora short time in the city of
Baltimore and being ar.xions to ascertaid ,for.
myself, the real sentiments of the soldiers from
the old Keystone State, accepted the very kind
int itatiocr of Gen. K B. Tyler to visit the camps
surrounding the city.
At Camp Tyler-the troops from Pennsylvania
were.ordered out, and formed into litleewhen
the General explained to them it Waif' &tired
to have frorn theni a free end unbiased expres
sion as to their choice for Governor of their
State. The vote was thereupon taken with the
following resale :
For A. G. Curtin, 857; for Woodward, 1.
On the announcement of:the vote three ions
ing cheers were given • for — Andrew G. Curtin

Mr. Francis J. Grund, a well known citizen,
died very suddenly at the Fifth District Police .
Station, about quartet past eleven o'clock last
night. Mr. Grand resided at No. 1719 Spruce
sttket. It appears that at about" leiren O'clock
a crowd, witha band- of music, started to sere
nade Gen. McClellan. The serenading crowd
were exceedinglfnoisj, and were groaning and
cheericg alternately. Mr. Grind was a . Mfitl of

qnently easily excited. As the crowd pawed his
house matches were lighted, and some of the
party proceeded to examine the names , and
numbers upon the doors. Others were yelting
