A HZRCOLVAN Tasx —A Morton Miss., cor-
respondeut of the Atlanta Appeal says: "Gen
eral Hardee has been regularly placed in charge
of this branch of Johnston's army, ha having
gone temporarily elsewhere to look after the af
fairs of his command. The General is Argus
eyed, as indeed-he should be, to meet-the calls
upon him. Pressed by Eosecrans and Grant,
turestened Pram Corinth; and with Mobile to
take awe of, his task is herculean. Partisan
ship is growing, but fortunately in Gen. Johns
ton's case there is none. He has passed through
a Most terrible ordeal, but has come out of it
without losing the o infideace of a single man.
Even the fireside Generals are silent. All are
satisfied that he has done alt that could be done
under the citcamistances."
