DIDN'T ARRIVE. —The report originating in
the New lork city dailies that one hundred'
and twenty-three of John Morgan's officers had
been sent from Ohio to this city, to be confined
in the "State prison" here, is incorrect. They
were removed to Pittsburg, and are now safely

ENILI;MLINit Osricart DRAFTED .—The enrolling
officer of the Sixth ward, Mr. Geo. W. Phillips,
a typo, from the TELtortias office, was fortunate
enough yesterday morning "to draw his card,"
which, unfortunately, does not exempt him
from paying dues—it coming from the "Union
Board," instead of the "Typographical Union
Association." G. W. P. will probably put on
a "sub."
TEM FAVORITES ARE Cerrito. Hambiin's
combination troupe will return to Harrisburg
to-morrow, and favor our citizens with a few
more of their excellent performances in Brant's
Hall. The first entertainment-will be given to
morrow evening. The large audiences in at
tendance during last and the pravious week,
furnished the best evidence that the public
were delighted with their performances, and w.e
anticipate a rash to Brant's Hall during the
brief stay of the company.
Tim Invemn CORM—Yesterday evening the
Ninth company, Invalid Corps, passed our of
fice on their way to Camp Curtin. This com
pany has been quartered in the upper market
house the past.two days, and are detailed . f.'rr
guard duty around the 'Board of Enrollment
stand, while the drafts are being made. It is
needless to say "that the men heretofore have
done their duty while the draft was going on,"
and that they are highly praised by the Board
of Enrollment and our citizens for their gentle
manly conduct in carrying out the orders of
their superior officers. The company is com
posed of eighty three years' veterans, and is
commended by Captain Isaac J. Neal, a worthy
and efficient veteran officer,
WEATHER.--11 is hardly necessary to
write a weather article for the information of
our city readers, as they can all feel for them

reached the nineties every day this week, ex

Sky and a coo))_ breeze from the north. The
extreme heat o,c the weather, however, eo far
as We know, has not caused a single case of
sun-stroke in the city, this summer. The }Tel
York, Philadelphia. ,and several other city ex
changes from the east, south and west, report
umbel% of deaths from sun stroke daily ; and
the New Xork printed a list of nineteen
cases of sun stroke in one day. In view of this
fact, those whose business exposes them to the

Eight persons were brotight up this morning
on charges of drunkenness and disorderly con

from our own observation, that over three
fourths of the culprits who are arraigned be

commentary on the exertions of our citizens by
adoption, we mean that portion of them who
are respectable and high-minded, and who ,
would do honor to ar:y. country. Most of the

AND TEEN NRIENJXI OP SOLOUIRS.
We call the attention of all having relations
or friends in the army to the fact that "HOOF
LAND'S German Bitters" will cure nine-tenths
of the diseases induced by exposures and
privations incident to camp. life. In the lists,
published almost daily in the newspapers, on
the arrival of the sick, it will be noticed that
a very large propertion are suffering from debil
ty. Every case of that kind can be readily
cured by Iloofland's German Bitters. Diseases
resulting from disorders of the digestive organs
are speedily removed. We have no hesitation
in stating that if these Bitters were freely used
among our soldiers, hundeeds of lives might
be saved that othervkie will be lost.
We call particular attention to the following
remarkable and well authenticated cure of one
of the nation's heroes, whose life, to use his
own language, "has been saved by the Bitters:"
REELLAMELPHIA, August 23d, med.
Messrs. Jones & Evans gentlemen,
your Hoofland's German Bitters has saved my
life. There is no mistake in this. It is vouch
ed for by numbers of my comrades, some of
whose names are appended, and who were fully
cognisant of all the circumstances of my case.
I am, and have been for the last four years, a
member of Sherman's celebrated battery, and
under the immediate command of Captain B.
B. Ayers. Through the exposure attendant
upon my arduous duties, I was attacked in No
vember last with inflammation of the longs,
and was for seventy-two days in the hospital.
This was followed by great debilly, heightenrd
by an attack of dysentery. I was then remov
ed from the White House and sent to this city
On board the steamer State of Maine, from
which I landed on the 28th of Jane. Since
teat lime I have been about as low as any one.
could be , and still retain• a spark of vitality.
For a week or more I was scarcely able to swat
low anythiog. and if I did force a morsel down,
it was immediately thrown up again.
I could not even keep a glass oftwater on my
stomach. Life could not last under these cir
cumstances; and, accordingly, the physicians
who had been working faithfully, though un
successfully, to rescue me from the grasp or the
dread archer, frankly told me they could do no
more for me and advised me to see a clergyman
and to make such disposition of my limited
funds as best suited me. An acquaintance who'
visited me at the hospital, Mr. Frederick Stein
bron, of Sixth below Arch street, advised me,
as a forlorn hope, to try your bitters, and kind- .
ly procured a bottle. From the time I com
menced taking them the gloomy shadow of
death receded, and I-am now, thank God for it,
getting better. Though I have taken but two'
bottles, I have gained ten pounds, and I feel
sanguine of being permitted to rejoin my wife
and daughter, from whom I have heard nothing
for eighteen months; for, gentlemen, I am a
loyal Virginian, from the vicinity of Front
RoyaL To your invaluable Bitters I owe, the
certainty of life which has taken the place of
vague fears—to your Bitters will I owe the
glorious privilege of again clasping to my
oceom those who are dearest to me in life. •
- Very trulryour . B, ISAAC MALONE.
We rally concur in the truth of the above
statement, as we had despaired of seeing our
comrade, Mr. Malone, restored to health. ,
