THE DBAIT FOR DAUPHIN COUNTY.—I/3 Success
and its Leithats.—The conscription for Dauphin
county was commt need this morning, by Mar
d al assisted by his associates in the
beard of enrollment. An Immense staging had
been erected immediately in front of the Court
Rouse, where "the wheel of fortune" was put
into operation, and as Dente after name of those
drafted were drawn from the "box," the crowd
assembled gave vent to cheep, while such of
the drafted as were present received the con 7
gratulation with a grace which showed atlesiet
the acquieeence the law receives at the hands of
orderly and loyal men. Indeed the good humor
and antrum which prevailed during the entire
pro et dir gof the draft to-day, is as much due
to the decency, patriotism and intelligence of
the people of Dauphin county, as it is to any
vigor, efficiency or preparation on the part of
those engaged in this delicate business.

We call psiticular att. ution to the following
remarkanin and well authenticated cure of one
of toe nation's heroes, whose life, to use his
own language, ‘!has been saved by the Bitters:''
PHILADELPHIA, August 23t1, 1862.
Messrs Jones & Evans :— Well, gentlemen,
your Boofland's licraran Bitters bus saved my
the. There is no mistake in this. It is vouch
ed for by numbers of my comrades, some of
whose names are appended, and who were folly
cogniz rut of all the circumstances of my case.
t am, and have been fur the last tour years, a
member of Shermatt's celebrated battery, and
under the immediate command of Captain R.
B. Ayers. Through
. the ex t osnre attrudaut
upon my atduous duties, I was attacked iu No
vember last with inflammation of the lungs,
and was for seventy-two days in the hospital.
This was followed by great debili y,.heighten d
by an attack of diseutery. 1 was then remov
ed from the White House and sent to this city
on board the steamer State of Maine, from
ahich I landed on the 28th of Jane. Since
teat time I have been about as low as any one
coned be and still retain a spark of vitality.
For a week or mote I was scarcely able to swat
tow anything. and if I did force a morsel down,
It was immediately thrown up again.
I could nut even keep a glass of water on my
stomach. Lilts could not last under three cir
cumstances; and, aucoidingiy, the physicians
who had been working faithfully, though un
successfully to rescue me from the grasp of the
,
dread archer, Lankly told me they could do no
mute tor use and advised me to sees clergyman
and to make such disposition of my jun lied
tuuds as Lost suited me. An acquaintance who
visited me at the bospit a, Mr. Ftedertek Stein
brew, of Sixth below Arch street, advised mo,
as a forlorn hope, to try your bitters, and kind
ly procured a bottle. From the time I cum
!named taking them the gloomy shadow of
death receded, and I am now, thank God for it,
getting better. Though I have taken but two
bottles, 1 have gained ten pouncs, and I feel
sanguine of being permitted to rejoin my wife
/ad daughter, from whom I have heard nowt/ g
for eighteen months; tor, gentlemen, I am a
toioyal Virginian, from -the vicinity of. Flout
Soyal. 10 your invalmsnle Bitters I owe the
certainty of life which has taken the place of
vague
. feats—to your Bitters will I owe the
Onions privilege of casts cis-ping to my
mom those Who era dearest to Mb in die.
Very truly yours, ISAAC MALONE.
We ully amour in the unto of the above
statement, as we had despaired of seeing Liu
comrade, Mr. fdaione,- restored to health.
