COLORED SummerEs.—Twenty - nine colored substitutes, from Beaver county, who were ac cepted before the reception of the late order re fusing colored substitutes, passed through this city yesterday for the negro camp near Phila delphia. PERFUMERY. - A new article of perfumery, manufactured by S. A. Kunkel, Apothecary, is now before the public, and promises to have a ready sale. It can be had in any quantity, from a small bottle to a quart. For the handker chief it has no superior. It is advertised in our columns to-day. TEAMSTERS WARTED.—The Oil City Register says there is a great scarcity of teams there at present, and seventy-five cents per barrel is now being charged from the Tarr Farm to that place, a distance of five miles. A good team can make ten dollars per day, and two thousand more - teams can find constant employment, UNFORTUNATE. —The draft in this State, so far, has been very heavy on preachers, as well as editors. Among the preachers drafted in Wash ington county, we notice the Rev. Mr. Waugh, Professor of Washington College, 0. S. Preaby terian; Rev. Mr. Johnston, United Presbyterian, and Rev. N. W. Scott, 0. S. Presbyterian. Da.arren Nrsmors.—All the negroes drafted into service in Lancaster, Allegheny and other counties in this State, into the setvice of the United States, on reporting themselves, are sent to Camp Penn, Phi:adelphia, now under charge of Lieut. Colonel Louis Wagner, 88th Penna. Vols. =1 &VEINY-EX "trlarrus.—One of the New York papers contains a list of seventy-six persons killed during the brutal riot raised in that city under the pretext of resistance to the draft.— The loss of life above statt-Al is greater than that suffered by five regiments of the Excelsior Brigade, who were is the hottest of the great battle at Gettysburg. I=l THEY ARE COMEMI . —Hamlin' B Combination Troupe of Minstrels will arrive here on Monday nest, and occupy Brant's Hall during the week. They will perform each evening, and give a grand matinee on Saturday afternoon for the accommodation of ladies and children. A list of the members of the troupe will be found in our advertising columns. /AT NEW CREEK, VA.—The Third Pennsylvania 'Militia, which left Pittsburg some time since -for Virginia, is now stationed at Rew Creek, .and is the only regiment at that point. It is officered as follows: Colonel, S. B. Dick; Lt. Col., J. A. Vela; Major, De Los Walker; Ad jutant, J. R. Hanna; Q iartermaster, J. Reeves. The regiment is from Braver and Crawford counties. KEEP TUB STREWS MW GUTTERS FRU .FROM Funs.—The sanitary condition of our city is one that should interest all residents. In the midst of a multiplicity of the different business pursuits, we do not think that sufficient atten tion has been directed to those measures that are calculated to improve the health and well behig of all those who res'de in the city. We notice throughout the city that s,veral streets are in a frlthy condition, which is the fault of those who reside in that vicinity. There are also a number of pools of stagnant water in the Bllth ward, which ought not to be, as the excel lent sewerage system of our city affords every facility for their effectual drainage. We hope that some measures will be taken to drain the cesspools, as they are certainly injurious to the health of the community. EITURNOP SO Cartusts.—The detachments of regulars, under the command of Captain Has tings, recently stationed near the Pennsylvania railroad depot, in this city, have returned to Carlisle, and are now encamped st . their old post—Carlisle Barracks: At the approach of the.rebels, Captain Hastings—not insving sue dent force to make a proper defense—received orders to remove everything, evacuate the post, acd report for duty at Harrisburg. Dar ing their absence the entire rebel' force under R; N frell occupied the garrison and quarters until they took up their march for Gettysburg. The poet was then destroyed by the chivalrous son of General Lee, on the night following the evacuation by Ewell's command. We under stand that the Government intends rebuilding the post in the coming autumn. - -THE IN Couvs.—This corps is rapidly halting its prescribed' dimensions. Twenty Conapanied of the first battalion hale] already been organized, also seven companies of time second battalion. Recruits are gathered at St: Louis, Washingten, Michigan, Connecticut, South Carolina, and Fortress Monroe, and will soon be brought into the organization, t least 2,600 men haviayeady enlisted; some of them are performing guard duty at the War Department in Washington city. Those sta tioned near thii 'city have been assigned' mostly to :other duties. The non-commissioned offi cers tow on duty at the various headquarters in Washington have been aruied with regale donawords instead of muskets. We' did not learn -whether the invalid corps officers, sta tioned an this city and vicinity, are to have these swords or not. The invalid soldiers, ,so 'far, have given entire saabifaotion wherever . they have bein'imploYed, , • ~., I tia.4ll " --m he break in the Pennsylvania canal, near' tittsburg, noticed in the TELEGRAPFt ) a week or ' two ago, bas been repaired, and the water) i t 15 t Ihought, will be let in to-day.— Boats on .°°' w leave here and run west the whole length; v of the canal without interruption. r , r _ 4 ,—. We understand that the men of thels3d Pennsylvania volunteers are to be mustered out this afternoon or to- orrow morning EXTUANED THEM Ames AND ACCOUTREMENTS. - The members of the 30th regiment Pennsyl vania volunteer militia handed in their arms and acc)utremen ts at the State arsenal this morning, and marched over the bridge into Cumberland county, where they will most likely remain until discharged from service. The men expect to be mustered out to-morrow morning. ARRIVAL Or WOUNDED.—Yesterday evening a train containing two hundred and twenty seven wounded soldiers reached this city from Gettysburg, on its way to New York. Shortly atter, another train containing one hundred and seventy-eight wounded arrived, en routes for the same city. Thirty-two of the wounded were taken off the train here, and distributed around to the different hospitals. "Wno is Pima , GUARD T—l Like Ida Song and would Like to Snow Rim " —Such was the inter rogations and confession contained in a note evidently written by a lady, which reached us this morning. In reply we dare only answer that "Picket Guard" is the casual nom de plume of a gentleman of education, who loves to in dulge a poetical mood, and who is chuck full of the most versatile ability. Two DAYS LONGER --By reference TO the Ad vertisement in another column, the lovers of amusement will learn that Nixon's Cremome Circus will remain in Harrisburg two days lon ger, and the company will give four more of their grand entertainments, in their perdition, near the railroad depot. This circus is the best that has visited Harrisburg this season, and:the performances are witnessed by thousands of spectators. Aarcrrasn ORDZIL—An order from the Provost Marshal General's 'office has just been issued, in which it is stated that "when drafted men fail to report, the Distriot is not responsible for their desertion, any more than for the deser tion of members of its quota in the field. The district must therefore be credited for them.— The paying $3OO for "procuration of substi tutes" under the law, throws upon the Gov ernment the responsibility of prov.ding such substitutes, and relieves the district therefrom. It is paid for' 'procuration of substitutes." 'Ube District must preient men Jiable to military service, suitable and acceptable—not Exempt". It cannot present for militark service to the Government mu who are . exempt therefroin by by law. It must make up for them." The last clause seems somewhat fogey, but we shall doubtless have an explanation of it one of these days. ; A CARD recut THE HENRY Gueure.—The mem bers of the Philadelphia Cit, Police, composing the organization know as the "Henry duards," have published the following card, expressing their thanks for the many acts of kindness and generosity bestowed upon them during their stay in bur city; HEEDQUAJETEBE HURT GUARDS Or PHIL.; DELFHIA., FIFTH STREW, BELOW CHESTNUT, July 28d, 1863. Such a remedy is surely wanted by those who suffer from Strumoue compla nts, and teat one which will accomplish their cure must prove of immense service to this large class of our afflic.ed fellow citizens. How completely this compound will do it has been proven by ex periment on many of the worstcases to be found in the following complaints : SCROFULA AND SCROFULOUS COMPLAINTS, ERUP TIONS AND ERUPTIVE DISEASkS, 'ULCERS, PIMPLES, BLOTCHES, TUMORS, SALT RHEUM, SCALD HEAD, SYPHILIS AND SYPHILITIC AFFECTIONS, MERCURIAL DISEASE, DROPSY, NEURALGIA ox Tic DOLOREUX, DEBILITY, DYSPEPSIA AND INDIGESTION, ER.YSIFE WI, Rosa ox ST. ANTHONY'S Flag, and indeed the whole class of complaints arising from Ix- PURITY or THE i3LOOD. This compound will be found a great promo ter of health, when taken in the spring, to expel the foul humors which fester in the blu,,d nt that season of the year. By the timely expulsion of them away rankling disorders are nipped in the bud. itluititodee pap, br the aid of this remedy, spare themstilyps from thp endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous sores, through which the system will strive to rid itself of corruptions, if not assisted to do this through the natural channels of the body by an alters- Wye medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood whenever you find its impurities burattig through the skin in pimples, eruptions or soles ; cleanse it when you find it is obstructed and siuggish in the veins ; cleanse it whenever it is foul, and your feelings will tell you when. Even where no' particular disorder is felt, people enjoy better health, and liye longer, fur cleaus hag the blood: Seep the blood healthy, and all is well ; but with the pabulum of life disor dered, there can be no Listing health. Sooner or later something must go wrong, and the great machinery of life is disordered or over thrown. • During late years the public have been mis ledby large bottles, preteudiug to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, for they not only contain little, if any, Sarsaparilla, tititt'Ottert no curative properties whatever.— Henbe, bitter and painful disappointmtnt has followed the use of.the various extracts of Sar saparilla which-flood the market, until the name itself is justly despised, and his become synony mous NVith imposition and Cheat. Still we call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to supply inch remedy as shall rescue the name from the load of obloquy which rests upon it. And we think we have ground for believing It has vii tuts which are irresistible by the ordinary -run of the diseases it Is intended to cure. Prepared by Da. J. C. AVM & 00., Lowell, Mass.
