ORGANIC WEAKNESS
Immediately Oared, and full vigor restored.
This distressing affection—which renders life
miserable and, marriage impossible—is the pen

Young persons are too apt to commit excesses
from not .being aware of the dreadful conse

derstands the subject will pretend to deny that
the power of procreation is loit sooner`by those
falling into improper habits than by the pru

colleges in the United States, and the greater
part of, whose life has been spent in the hospi

another becomes : blighted with our own.
DISEASE OF IMPRUDENCE.
When the misguided and imprudent votary
of pleasure finds he has imbibed the seeds of
this painful disease, it too often happens that
an illtimed sense of shame or the dread of dis
covery deters him from applying to those who,
from education and respectability, can alone
befriend him. He falls into the bands of igno
rant and designing :pretenders,-who; incapable
of =ctilrig, filch his pecuniary substance, keep

the smallest.fee can be obtained, and in despair
leave him with ruined health to sigh over ids

Sarsaparilla.
NO one remedy is more needed in this coun
try than a reliable Alterative, but the sick
have been so outrageously cheated by the worth
less preparations of Sarsaparilla abroad that
they are disgusted even with the name. Yet
the drug cannot be blamed for the impositions
from which they have suffered. Moss of the
so-called Sarsaparillas in the market contain
little of the virtues of Sarsaparilla or anything
else. They are mere slops—inert and worthless,
while a concentrated extract of the active
variety of Sarsaparilla compounded with Deck,
Stilling's, lodine, etc., is, as it ever will be, a
powerful alterative and an effectual, remedy.
Such is Ayer's Extract of Sarsaparilla, as its
truly wonderful cures of the great 'variety of
complaints which require an alterAtive medi
cine have abundantly shown: Do not,-.there
fore, discard this invaluable medicine, because
you have been imposed upon by something pre
tending to be Sarsaparilla, while it was not.
When you have used ATER'S—then, and not till
then, will you know the virtues of Sarsaparilla.,
For minute particulars of the diseases itpures,l
we refer you to Ayer's American Almanac,i
which the agents below: named will furnish'
allgratis to Who call for it. 11

TERRIFIC FIGHTINO OF THE REBELS.
Whole Brigades of Rebels Wiped Out
No dispatches for the press have been sent
from Washington by telegraph to-day. But we
know of a private dispatch rectived at noon to
day, from a perfect'y trustworthy source, the
tenor of which is as follows:
The authorities at Washington are perfectly
confident of General Hooker's success. He can
maintain his pr sition t and reinforcemente to the
number of 80,000 men, under General Heintael
man, have been sent.tohim. Nothing definite
has beenleard of General Stoneman,, but he is
believed to have accomplished the work assign
ed to him.
The Herald has received the following account
of the fight of Gen. Sedgwick's corps with the
enemy:
It appears that after the great struggle of
Sunday, Gen. Lee detached a large body of his
rebels to meet Sedgwkk, and it ie known that
Longetreet was also rapidly getting in Sedg
wick's rear.
At the same time, early on Monday morning,
large Masses of rebels appeared on the heights
enst of Fredericksburg, where we bad but a
small force, hiving sent a large portion to
.strengthen edgwick. The position was relin
quished after a short resistance, having first
removed all the guns.
Some fighting occurred above Fredericksburg
which-is believed to have been an unsuccessful
attempt to prevent Lougstreet from moving up.
The rebels interposed no objection to our bold
ing Fredericksburg, which we still retain.
General Sedgwick was hotly engaged all
Monday. The rebels pressing him at all
points his men were obliged to give wey before
the overwhelming masses of the rebels, and his
discomfiture seemed certain, when a Vermont
brigade made a ferocious charge, repulsing
them and securing the safetylpt that portion of
the army.
The slaughter of the enemy near- msaird find
was perfectly horrible, whole brigs** of rebels
being literally wiped out.---
; General Sedgwick, however, recroaFed the
river in the face of the enemy after midnight,
the enemy raking our bridges with artillery,
causing great loss of life. He succeerbd in
getting across in comparatively . good order, and
marched immediately to United States ford to
join Hooker's main army.

The .7rZutie has a special dispatch from
lgurfrresboro dated yesterday, as follows:
Deserters report that the rebel communica
tions between Vicksburg, Richmond and
Charleston and Tullahoma have been cut, and
that neither newspapers or dispatches have been
received lu Bragg's army from those places for
several days.
Bragg was reported to have been mortally
wounded by Breckenridge, but this statement
is not credited. . ,
The Rebel Prisoners at Washington
WASHINGTON, May 5
Since Saturday nearly 3,000 rebel prisoners
have been brought to this city. Seven hundred
and.eighty arrived here at 2 o'clock to-day,
and were like their predecessors marched to the
Provost Marshal's office under a strong guard.
Thence they were consigned to safe, quarters.
Themumb.3r is too large for convenient scum
modatlon.
Addititinal prisoners are to be sent up from
the Rappahannock, making in all four thou
sand and over certainly in our hands. They
present a shabby apperance. The much larger
part are dressed in grey, the remainder in
brown, and generally with slouch hats. Many
of them have good 'substantial boots, .white
. others.are nearly barefoot. Not, a few, instead
of blankets, show that they have made an ex
tensive levy on carpets. The prisoners are
nearly all young men. Their appearance in
the streets excited much cariosity, but no rude
or offensive remarks were made by the specta
tors.
Ambulances were busy both last night and
to-day conveyingthe wounded from the Army
of the Potomac to the several hospitals.
