Ayer's Compound Eztract Sarsaparilla. NO one remedy is more needed in this coun try than a reliable Alterative, but the sick have been so outrageously cheated by the worth less preparations of Sarsaparilla abroad that they are disgusted even with the name. Yet the drug cannot be blamed for the impositions from which they have suffered. Moss of the so-called Sarsaparillas in the market contain little of the virtues of Sarsaparilla or anything else. They are mere slops—inert and worthless, while a concentrated extract of the active variety of Sarsaparilla compounded with Deck, Stilling's, lodine, etc., is, as it ever will be, a powerful alterative and an effectual, remedy. Such is Ayer's Extract of Sarsaparilla, as its truly wonderful cures of the great 'variety of complaints which require an alterAtive medi cine have abundantly shown: Do not,-.there fore, discard this invaluable medicine, because you have been imposed upon by something pre tending to be Sarsaparilla, while it was not. When you have used ATER'S—then, and not till then, will you know the virtues of Sarsaparilla., For minute particulars of the diseases itpures,l we refer you to Ayer's American Almanac,i which the agents below: named will furnish' allgratis to Who call for it. 11 Alrlaell CAVIAR:CIO Prras ' for the core of Cap, fineness, Jaundice, Dyspepsia, Indigestion, Dysentery j Foul Stomach flectdache, Pike, Rheumaiism, Ralik} burn arising from Disordered Stomach, Pain, of Morbid inaction of the Bowels, _Flatulency, Loss Appel*, Liver Complaint, Dropsy, Worms, Gout .Neuralgia, and for a Dinner Pill. Sedgwick's corps with the enemy: It appears that after the great struggle of Sunday, Gen. Lee detached a large body of his rebels to meet Sedgwkk, and it ie known that Longetreet was also rapidly getting in Sedg wick's rear. At the same time, early on Monday morning, large Masses of rebels appeared on the heights enst of Fredericksburg, where we bad but a small force, hiving sent a large portion to .strengthen edgwick. The position was relin quished after a short resistance, having first removed all the guns. Some fighting occurred above Fredericksburg which-is believed to have been an unsuccessful attempt to prevent Lougstreet from moving up. The rebels interposed no objection to our bold ing Fredericksburg, which we still retain. General Sedgwick was hotly engaged all Monday. The rebels pressing him at all points his men were obliged to give wey before the overwhelming masses of the rebels, and his discomfiture seemed certain, when a Vermont brigade made a ferocious charge, repulsing them and securing the safetylpt that portion of the army. The slaughter of the enemy near- msaird find was perfectly horrible, whole brigs** of rebels being literally wiped out.--- ; General Sedgwick, however, recroaFed the river in the face of the enemy after midnight, the enemy raking our bridges with artillery, causing great loss of life. He succeerbd in getting across in comparatively . good order, and marched immediately to United States ford to join Hooker's main army. FROM FORTRESErMONROF.
