Among the materials ol late recommend ed (or stable floors, are a mixture cf coal tar With gravel and stone. The manner in which the work is done is to take email stones and put tbom in a pile, pouting over the same the gas tar, and then mixing wth a shove! until the stones are coated. These stones are now laid on the floor about throe inchr* deep. Upon thts floor coarse gravel mix*.! in the satire way with tar is placed. The mixture lsifftcttd by putting the gravel in piles and making a hole in the top, pouting in the tar and mix ng with a shovel. It 1* then spread over tho stnes two inches thick. No more tar should be usc l than just suf ficient to coat the stones and gravel, as it will be longer in drying. The stones and • gravel, should be laid as above, and a heavy roller weighing 400 or 500 pounds i* passe i over the floor until it is perfectly cm part, and any places not touched by the r- I er are beaten down with a heavy maul. H'.iV the rolling and mauling >s gong c>n. tha eurfso* should be strewn over with fb.e travel r sand, to taKe up surplus tar, st.d ah u d be continued until the atirfiicj is dry enough to walk upon and not stick to one's shots. Ti.e floor is rat ptoof an 1 becomes hard and dur ab'e, making, it is said, the best fl >or that can be put into a stable ; the only objection being the smell of the tar, wh eh, however,lß healthy, and in tune passes off. He find the substance of the above in the Vermont Record, wttfiout any names being given of persona who have trie 1 it. He should presume that a pood substantial floor could be laid in thte way, and it hs th ment of being cheap, and what every farmer and his workmen can readily do, with'ul employing more expensive ib r. It to ks practical and is well Worth trying. I lieu Herald. THIRSTING FOR MORE LAND.
