feel proud of our able Representative from this
County ? Taking into consi<leratioo tbe prudent

considered the interest of his constituents in his
course and action upon the Prohibitory Law. bow
could any one think or expect a matt of his temper
ament could do more than he has done. It is plain,
after reafing the debate upon his Bill to leave it to
. a vole of the people, he could not be induced by our

sibility upon himself. He certainly cannot be cen
sured far egotism. It wis very unfortunate for him
, to be petitioned to bare tbe law repealed by u por
. lion of his constituents, and tbo reverse by an ther
portion. If they all had been on one side he might
hive taken a decided stand.
Them being petitions for the repeal and for the
* non-repeal, how could he determine otherwise than
