-Jn.,pursuance of a*cali issued by the Republican
County a Convention has held at
the Court House on Tuesday Evening, May 26.15C3,
for the purpose of electing delegates to th? Union'
State Convention to bo held at Pittsburg on the Isbof
July, proximo. On motion, Wm. Garretson was
elected President, and M. H. Cobh and Hon. Royal
Wheeler Vico Presidents, and 0. B. Wells and Jerome
B. Niles Secretaries.
On motion. Hod. S. F. Wilson was elected Senato
rial delegate (subject to the approval of the Confer
ence) and Ex Sheriff Power Representative delegate,
yrith power of substitution.
On notion J. Emery and B. B. Strang were elected
Senatorial conferees. After which the following res
olution was offered and unanimously adopted.
- Resolved , That wo afo in favor of the continuance
of the present war until every portion of the revolted
territory shall have been reclaimed, and, that, inas
much as slaveryitas boused!the rebelliob, and is dem
onstrated to be incompatible with the peace, harmony,
and the general welfare of the nation, we hope to see
its entire Abolishment secured, as one result of the
present contest.
After the transaction of the usual business, speech
es were made by Hon. C. 0. Bowman and S. F. Wil
son.
On motion the Convention adjourned *tne die.
