Its effects commence by deposition from tho blood of cor
rupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and in
t--: n.il organs. is lermed tubercles; in the glands, swellings;
and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption
which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so
that rcrofnloas constitutions not only suffer from Scrofulous
complaint's. hut they have Tar less power to withstand tho
j.lia-k c of other diseases; consequently, vast numbers perish
hv dir-nders which, although not scrofulous in their nature,
arc ..till rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of

detractive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed,
