In Springfield, Bradford county, .Monday morning, iSth
last., IDA, daughter of Andrew and Sarah Crowl, of this
Tillage, aged 8 years.
[She left home on the Friday previous in charge of some
relatives residing In Bradford county, and while descending
a hill two m»les west of Springfield Centre, on Saturday the
horses took fright and ran away, throwing the occupants
from the-carriage and injuring the subject of this notice fa
tally, ftudt two others seriously. IDA was taken up insensi
ble, In which state she lingered until Monday morning when
hej gentle spirit took wing for the Better Land.
IDA was one of those quiet and womanly children whom
to see is to love. She) was a womanly chili when we first
knew her, four years ago, quiet, unobtrusive, yet not averse
to the Sports and pastimes of childhood. She is taken in the
morfiTng of her youth and beauty, and her vacant place will
wring the hearts in which her sweet face will never grow
old; but let the bereaved parents bo comforted In the knowl
edge that she has escaped the bitter sorrows and the buffet-
Ings of an existence chequered at the best. - Ed.]

CATHARTIC SYRUP.
Physicians often wish for a. mild, safe and.
reliable medicine which can be used as a sub- j
stitute for Castor Oil as a cathartic, and which;
at the same time is pleasant and palatable and i
; well adapted to children. Such an article is
here offered to physicians and to the public
, generally, under the name of Cathartic Sy'rup. j
i The dose is about the same as that of Castor '
; Oil, and should be varied to suit the ago and
: constitution of the patient. It is carefully
and accurately prepared, (by displacement,
like the Fluid Extracts,) according to tho best
rules of modern Pharmacy, from tho more
: mild and pleasant vegetable cathartics, as
i senna, rhubarb, &c- As far as it has been 1
tested by physicians, it has re
ceived their unqualified approval.
Though not always necessary, yet it
is generally best to shake the bottle before
pouring out the dose.

The Oxygenated Bitters.
Tor the euro of Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Liver Complaint,
Asthma, Cos ti von ess, Loss of Appetite, Fever and Ague,
Heart Burn, Water Brash, Acidity, Sea Sickness, Scurvy,
Nausea, Headache, Ennui, and General Debility, or any dis
ease having its origin In imperfect digestion.
These Bitters, as all classes of our fellow citizens, Includ
ing Members of Congress, Lawyers, Physicians, Clergymen,
Planters, Farmers and others testify, are the only safe, cer
tain and sovereign specific for the immediate relief and per
manent care of the many cruel complaints which in some ,
phase or other of Dtspepsia afflict our race.
These Bitters were discovered by Dr. George JJ. Green,
sad in their formula differ entirely from that of any other'
preparation of medicine. Containing no alcohol—no miner
al—no poison—no noxious drug,—in their nature tonic, not
stimulating,—retaining their virtues in any clime; they are
a “combination and a form indeed” of Medicine which knows
no rival In exterminating disease and restoring the system
to Its pristine vigor and health. No matter of how long
standing, or however induced or chronic in its character the
disease may he—no matter that it has baffled the * kill of the
physician, and'resisted the efforts of jVedicine. a single trial
of these Bitten will satisfy the sufferer that his disease is
amenable to the proper remedy.
In testimony of the many cures effected by this Remedy
reference Is had to the written certificates from distinguished
individuals known all over the land.
From among the many letters we are constantly receiving
we take the following;—
“Gr.XTLENKN:—I have nsed the Oxygenated Bitters in my
practice with decided success in Debility and General Pros
tration, and 1 confidently recommend it in coses of General
Debility or Derangement of tbe Digestive Organa.

NEW ENGLAND SETTLEMENT.
Kare opportunity.—to all wanting farms—
in a healthy place, twenty-five miles from Philadelphia
on the Camden and Atlantic railroad, New Jersey. An old
estate has recently been opened for sale, and the first division
of 10,000 acres divided up into farms of twenty acres nnd
upwards. 'The soil is of the best quality for the production
ot fruits, grains, &c. The price is $l5 to $2O per acres, pay
able in easy quarter yearly instalments, within a term of
four years with interest. Tho terms are made easy, m order
to insure tho rapid improvement of the land, by enabling
every Industrious man to buy a farm. It Is now being ex
tensively improved by good roads, and some of tho best citi
zens from New England and the, Middle Ltales are erecting
large improvements. It is a scene of the greatest improve
ment ont of Philadelphia. Seventy-five hddses have been
built iu four months. Practical farmers and business men
from the length and breadth of the Union are settling there.
It la an Important business place, on account of its b- log in
the midst of n great market. Every article raised upon this
land finds an immediate sale, The water is excellent, and no
such thing as foer is known.
Tho soil is a sandy or clay loam, with a clay bottom and
retentive of manures. It ut free of atone* and easily worked
It abounds largely in the phosphates, and such is its fertility
that from the crop* produced both upon this land and tho
large area adjoining under cultivation, it will be fomld not to
be excelled anywhere in the production of crops most adapt
ed to its market.
The reader may bo well aware that the earliest and tho
best fruits and vegetables come from New Jei'soy, which are
annually exported to the amount of millions of dollars,. The
land, besides being accessible in every way for fertilizers, has
an abundant supply of the best quality of muck manure.
Lumber and buildihg materials can be had on tho spot at a
cheap price, from the mills. Other mills are now being open*
ed, and brickyards being started on the ground. A person
can put up a frame tenement for present convenience for one
hundred dollars. On account of the extensive emigration,
this is the best course to pursue in order to geta place to live
in at first. Carpenters and builders are on hand to put up
houses on tho best terms.
In settling hero tho emigrant has many advantages. Ho
is vritbin a few boars’ ride of tbo great cities in the Middle
States and New England; he is near his old friends and as
sociations; he is in a settled country, where every improve
ment and comfort of civilization is at hand; he Is in a heal thy
place, and ia not subject to the certain »y of losing the greater
part of bis family and bis own health by those malignant
fevers which make the graves of so many millions of young
and hardy in far off regions away from borne and friends.—
Besides, he has a miid climate and an open winter.
There are three trains daily to Philadelphia, and to all those
who improve the Railroad company gives a free ticket.
The reader will at once be struck with theodvantages here
presented, and ask himself why tho property has not been
taken up before. Tho reason is, it was never thrown in the
market; and utiloss these statements were conect, ho one
would be invited to examine the land before purchasing.—
This all are expected to do. They will see the land under
cultivation; they will meet persons no doubt from their own
neighborhood; they will witness tho improvements, and can
judge of the character of the population. Persons should
come prepared to purchase, as many are locating, and loca
tions are not held on refusal.
