nothing equal to your Cherry Pectoral for giving ease and re

We might add volumes of evidence, but the most convinc
ing proof of the virtues of this remedy is found in its effects
upon trial.
Consumption.
Probably no one remedy has ever been known which cured
so many and such dangerous cases os this. Some no human

relief and comfort.

AVER’S CATHARTIC PILLS.
TUB sciences of Chemistry and Medicine have been taxed
their utmost to produce this heat, most perfect purgative
which is known to man. Innumerable proofs are showm that
these Pills ha\e virtues which surpass hi excellence the ordi
nary medicines, und that they win unprecedentedly upon the
esteem of all men. They are safe and pleasant to take, but
powerful to cure. Their penetrating properties stimulate the
vital activities of the bodj, remove the obstructions of its
organa, purify the blood, and expel disease. They purge out
the foul humors which breed and grow distemper, stimulate
sluggish or disordered organa into their natural action, and
Import healthy tune with strength to the whole system. Not
only do they cure the every-day complaints of every body,
but also formidable and dangerous diseases that have bafflod
the boat of human skill. While they produce powerful effects
they are at the same time, in diminished doses, the safest and
best physic than can be employed for children. Being sugar
coated, they are pleasant to take; and being purely vegetable
are free from any risk of harm. Cures have been made which
surpass belief were they not substantiated by men of such
exalted position and character as to forbid the suspicion of
untruth. Many eminent clergymen and physicians have lent
their names to certify to the publia the reliability of my rom
e lies, while others have sent me the assurance of their con
viction that my Preparations contribute immensely to the re*
lief of my afflicted, suffering fellow-men.
Tbo Agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis my
American Almanac, containing directions Jbr their use-oad
certificates of their cures, of the following complaints :
Costiveness. Bilious Complaints. Rheumatism, Dropsy,
Heartburn, Headache arising from a foul stomach, Nausea,
Indigestion, Morbid Inaction of the Bowels and Pain arising
therefrom, Flatulency, ,Loss of Appetite, all Ulcerous and
Cutaneous Diseases which require an evacuant medicine,
Scrofula or King’s Evil. They also, by purifying the blood
and stimulating the system, cure many complaints which it
would not be supposed they could reach, such as Deafness,
Partial Blindness, Neuralgia and Nervous Irritability, De
rangements of the Liver and Kidneys. Gout, and other kin
dred complaints arising from a low state of the body or ob
struction of its functions.
Do not bo put off by unprincipled dealers with some other
pill they make more profit on. Ask for Ayer’s Pills, and take
nothing else. No other they can give you compares with tills
In its Intrinsic value or curative powers. The sick want the
best aid there is for them, and they should have it.

“On the 26th of February all the members of the committee
met to witness the Safes and books and papers, (placed in
them) and were perfectly satisfied that all was right. The
day following, the burning took place, under the superintend*
ecce of the Committee. After a fair and impartial burning
for five hours, the Safe of Messrs Evans £ Watson was first
opened, the Safe being on fire inside, and the contents par
tially consumed, while the contents in the Safe of Mows*
Forrels & Herring were in good condition, and no fire inside.”

. The above Safes can be Inspected at 34 Walnut Street, where
the public can satisfy themselves of the great superiority of
the “Herrings Patent Champion,” over the defeated and

Only Maker* in this State of Herring’s Patent Champion Safes,
The attempt made by other parties to bolster up the repu
tation of a Safe which has failed so signally in accidental
fires in Philadelphia, (Banstead Place,) by taking one' out of
an agent’s store, (H. A. Lantz,) made double thickness , (differ
ent from chose they sell) to “burn up” one of Herring’s, (half
as thick)has met with its true reward. Herring’s Safe could
not be burnt, proving conclusively that the only reliable
Safe now made is “Herring’s” of which over 15,000 are now
in actual use, and moro than 200 have been tried by fire
without a single loss.

Report of the C ommUtec appointed to superintend
the Burning of the Iron j tfq/es, at Reading , Feb.
27,1857. f
“The undersigned, members of the committee, do
respectfully report, that wesaw the two Safes origi
nally agreed upon by Farrele &. Herring and Evans
& Watson, placed side byl side in a furnace, r is:
The Safe in use by the Paymaster of the Philadel
phia and Reading Railroad Company, in his office
at Reading, manufactured; by Parrels & Herring,
and the safe in use by H. A. Lan(z,in his store,
manufactured by Evans &[Watson, and patio books
aifd/papers precisely alike,;'
The fire was started! ai 8J o'clock, A. M., and
kept up until four cords of green hickory, two cords
dry 1 oak and half ckeslnulitop wood were entirely
consumed, the whole under the superintendence of
the subscribers, members: of the Committee. The
Safes were then cooled off, with water, after which
they were opened and the books and papers taken
out by the Committee 'arid sent to H. A. Lentz’s
store for public examination, after they were first
examined and marked by the Committee. The
books and popers taken from the Safe manufactured
by Evans Jk. Watson were hut slightly affected by
the intense heat, while those taken frqm the Safe
manufactured by Farrels & Herring, were .In our
judgment, damaged fully fifteen per cent 1 more than
those taken from Evans & Watson’s Safe.
We believe the above to have been a fair and im«
partial trial of the respective qualities of both Safes.
