A. Larnz,in- hia store, manufactured by "Evans & W-atsonjand pul-in books and papers precisely alike. . \ ■ The lire was started at 8J o'clock, A. M., and kept up-until four cords of green hickory, two cords dry oak and half chestnut lop wood were entirely consumedj-lhe whole, under the superintendence of the subscribers, members *f the Committee.- The Safes were then cooled off with waiter, after which they were opened and the books and .papers taken out by the Committee and sent to H. A. Lantz’s store for public examination, after they were first examined and marked by the Committee. The boohs and papers taken from the Slrfc manufactured by Evans & Watson were but slightly affected by the intense heat, while those-taken from the Safe manufactured by Farrels & Herring, were in our judgment, damaged fully fifteen per cent more than those taken from Evans & Watson's Safe. We believe the above to have been a fair and im* partial trial of the respective qualities ofbotb Safes. JAQOBH.[DFSHER, DANIEL S.
