Sbction 1. Be it enacted by the Senate
and House of Representatives of the Com
monwealth of Pennsyltaniain General As
sembly met and it ix hereby .enacted bgthe
authority of the tame. That the comities
of Tioga, Poiter, M’Kean and TSlk shall here
of ler be sujijaci to the general rbad law? of
the Commonwealth, e*cepi sp far as they are
altered and supplied by the provisions of this
act,
Spc, %. That the qualified electors' of the
•everal townships. ip said poualies shall at
their annual , township elections,in the year
one ihbuSand eij'ht hundred and fifty-six,
leccl three MJpdrVisors in each township Who
shall also be overseers of the poor for their
respective townships. . ;
B'bc. 8. That within ten days alter stud
election, the persons so elected supervisors
shall,a) the office of. the township clerk
flfpach township, and the said dprk or in
bit abaen’ce> the. clerk of the election shall
proceed to class by ballot -said- supervisors;
one shall be classod tind .serve, focthrea years,
one shall bp classed and serve for two yean,
and one shall be classed and serve for one
year; qualified citaens in each of
said townships'Us' aforesaid shall'annually at
the township elecfipas thereafter, elect one
Person for Supervisor who shall hold his of
fice for three yeurs nnd if ’any vacancy shall
occur in the board of Supervisors the same
shall be supplied by appointment made by the
said board until the next-election.-
Sec. 4. -That the Supervisors of the sev
eral townships in said counties shall cause to
ne worked out all the road laxbsof said town
ships respectively. before the first day of
August in pach year if practicable, and shall
cause all such taxes due and unpaid at that
time (o be collected in money and paid to the
township treasurer pn or before the first day
ef Janusfyjn eUcb year following.

of .me said several counties may .upon appli
cation of any-creditor of. a township; end;
upon notice; to the supervisors 'thereof, direct
me supervisors to .levy an additional tax or
to increase, the regular assessment,-to cause
tne same to be collected in money to pay debts
of said township which additional tax or in-'
crease of lax shall not .in apy case exceed in
pqy,ppe year ten mills on, tl)g. dollar .of quell
adjusted, assessment or valuation, jbe taxes
authorised by this saotiqn, and the arrearages
of the regular assessments not wolfed out as
provided by the third ejection of i(iie act, and
made payable in money except so fqr as re
lates to taxes on unseated lands shall be col
lected by the constables of the 'respective
townships upon warrants and duplicates is
sued.hy the Supervisors, and the said Con
stables shall have all the powerhnd anthprily
to" the collection of ,the same which are ves
ted in collectors for the collection of coupty
rales and levies by existing Jaws, and shall
do liabje.upon their bonds for the faithful dis
charge of their duties, and for tl)e payment
to the township treasurer within thirty days
after the receipt of said warrant of the-whole
amount thereof except such sums as may be
abated by the said Supervises or returned id
me county Commissioners.

their .duplicates ns aforesaid, of all assess,
meats upon aeated property which are not
collectable in- pursuance of the powers vested
m them by the preceding section, and the
