A correhpendest of the New York
Times, giving an account, by a rebel
prisoner, who participated in the af
-fair of the capture of the Harriet
Lane. at Galveteon, relates the fol
lowing remarkable -incident:—Al
most the first man struck down was
thg gallant Capt. Wainwright, and
Lieutenant Lee, who both fought,
the prisoner says, with a despera
tion and valor that no mortal could
surpass. He saw them bleeding and
prbstrate upon the deck, still dealing
death among their enemies. One
young son of Captain Wainwright—
only ten years old ; just think of it !
—stool at the cabin door, a revolt'
er in each hand, and never ceased
firing until he had expended every
shot. One of his poor little bands
was disabled by a ball, shattering
hi:,four"fingers, and then his infant
ile soul gave way;_ he burst into
tears and cried ; "Do you want to
kill me' I" Darling young hero ;
may bis country never forget him !
Where is the Henans to wed his
name to immortal verse, like anoth
er Oassabianca ? Philanthropists,
whose hearts are yearning for some
thing fie love, here is a noble orphan
boy on whom to lavish your. care.—
He is now a prisoner in the hands of
the enemy.
KILITANY ELOPEMENT.
A Lieutenant in the Thirty-second Mi
nos regiment, falling in with a charming
rebel syren at Nashville, Tennessee, be
came so infatuated that he some weeks
.go deserted, And with the young lady es
caed beyond the Federal lines. The
young lady was wealthy, and by the use
of her money the pair managed to run the
Wlrlnade at Charleston, and arrived at
lityrana last Christmas day, when they
wersmattried, and are now living, it is
said, in happiness and elegance.
