'good luck is to get up at six o'clock in the morning; good hick, if you ,had only a shilling a week, is to live on eleven pence and save a penny; good luck is to trouble your heads with your own business, and let your 'neighbors' alone; good luck is to ful fil the commandments, and do unto others as we wish them to do unto us. They must not only plod but persevere. Pence must be taken care of because they are the seeds of guineas. To get on in the world they must take care of home, sweep their own doorway clean, try and kelp other people, avoid temptations, and have faith, and truth, and God. ---Fairee Lecture. THE ABOVE IS ♦ PORTRAIT ON n•VID AVC , Sworn statement of David M'Creary, of Napier 104 Bedford county: In April, 1856, as near as I can remember, a small pimple made its appearance on my upper hp, which soon became enlarged and sore. I used poultices of sorrel, and a wash of blue vitriol, without effect.-- Finding the sore extending, I called on Dr. Ely, of Schellsburg, who pronounced it CANCER, and pre scribed a wash of sugar of lead and bread poultices. Finding these remedies of no avail, I called upon Dr. Shaffer, of Davidsville, Somerset county, who also pronounced the disease Cancer, and gave me internal and external remedies—the latter consisting principally of caustic; but all to no purpose, as the disease cow tinned spreading toward the nose. I neat used a prep aration of arsenic, in die form of salve. This for a tints checked the disease, but the inflaination soon is. fc , rased. I called upon Dr. Stotler, of St. Claireville, Bedford county, who also pronounced the disease Can cer, and applied a salve arid to be a never failing rem edy, but it had no effect whatever in checking thg spread of the sore. In December in the same year, the disease had eaten away a greater part of my upper lip. and had attacked the nose, when I went to Cincinnati where I consulted Prof R. S. Newton, of the Eclectic Medical College. lie pronounced the disease "a cu. taueous Cancer, superinduced by an inordinate use of mercury." Ile applied mild zinc ointment, and gave me internal remedies. My face healed up, but the in flammation was not thoroughly removed. In February, 1857, he pronounced me cured, and I left for home. Pa April the disease again returned, and so violent was the pain that I could not rest at night. Late in Mny I returned to Cincinnati, and again placed myself under the charge of Dr. Newton. with whom I remained un. til September, during which time he used every knows remedy, and partly succeeded to checking the disease, but when I returned home there were still three dis charging ulcers upon my face. 1 continued using New. ton's preparations, and also medicine that .I.got front Dr. Ely, but the Cancer continued growing until it had eat off the left side of my nose, the greater pertion of my left cheek, and had attacked my left eye. I had gives up all hope of ever being cured, since Dr. Ely said he could only give relief, but that a cure was impossible In March, 1858, I bought a bottle of "Blood Searcher;" but I must confess that I had no faith in it. I was very weak when I commenced taking it; but I found that? gained strength day by day, and also that .the ulcers commenced drying up. I continued, .and when the third bottle was taken, my face was healed as if by miracle. I used the fourth bottle, and I have been healthier since than I have been for the last seven years. Although my face is sadly disfigured. I am still grateful to a benign Providence who has spared my life, and which has been done through the instrumentality at LIN DSEI '8 INIPaIIiVED 13100 D MUNCHER. DAVID M'CREARY. TiIOIIIAS FARRELL. READ ?His Culta.-1 was afflicted with a horrid di sease in my feet and ankles, so much so that for six weeks I was confined to my bed, and at other times to my chair, where I was compelled to sit for weeks. I was in the care of both our eminent physicians for a long time, but they could do nothing to effect a cure DE ease my pain. My feet and legs became very much swollen, and having heard of your Blood Searcher (although I had very little faith in it), I was induced by Messrs. Alexander & Son, agents at this place, to try it. I had not used one bottle before I began to find hnniediate relief. I tried another, and am now Ohs to walk about without crutches. I hale tried other patent medicines, but received no benefit. I take pleasure in recommending your Blood Searcher above all others, to those who may be afflicted as I have tiles. Yours, truly, PETER RIMS. AroLt,o, Armstrong Co., Pa., Dec. 12, 1829.
