stopped; month fur repairs, is now in operation. We

In April, 1856, as near as 1 can remember, aiamlll

sorrel, and a wash of blue vitriol, without erect.—
Finding the sore extending, 1 called on Dr. .Ely, af
Schellsbetrg, who pronounced it CANCER, and me
scribed a wash of sugar of lead and bread poen .. .
Finding Siege remedies of no avail, I called upn Err.
Shaffer, of Davidsville, Somerset county, who akee
pronounced the disease Cancer, and gave me internal
and external remedies—the latter consisting principally
of caustic; but all to no purpose as the disease Cole
tinned spreading toward the nose. I next used a prep
aratioii of arsenic, in the form of salve. This flow •
time checked the disease, but the intlamation soon 1..
foteased. 1 called upon Dr. Stotler, of Si. Claireirille,
Bedford county, who also pronounced the diseieefhis
cer, and applied a salve acid to be a never failing rem
edy, but it had no effet.t whatever in checking the
spread of the sale. In December in the same year,
disease had eaten away a greater part of my upper rr„
and had attacked the nose, whenl went to Cipcimme
where I consulted Prof le S. Newton, of the Ecit
Medical College. He pronounce 4 the disease"aCitin
taneous Cancer, superinduced by an inordinate me tig
mercury." He applied mild zinc ointment, and gave
me internal remedies. My face healed up, bet the pie
