This is mighty good year for Repub
licans to vote their ticket straight, Rud
from all appearances there's a mighty lot
lot of 'em going to vote that way.
Let no Republican be misled by re
quests for "complimentary" votes in the
concluding hours of llie campaign. The
business of Republicans Is to vote the
straight ticket. Let the Democracy take
care of Its own battles.
Tiik straw votes look so much like
Tafl that Parker is getting anxious about
holding the record he landed four years
ago. But Ksnpus is likely to retain the
distinction of losing every Northern State.
Bryan Is reported to have some prospects
in Nevada.
Br careful in marking your ballot next
Tuesday, Republicans. In splitting your
ticket there is great danger of losing your
vote for Tafl, as the ballot is a large and
intricate one. Better make one cross
opposite the name Republican and let it
go at that. This is a good year In wbicb
to vote the straight ticket.
Even the most optimistic of the Demo
cratic prophets will not go on record as
giving Mr. Bryan more thau the number
of electors barely necessary to elect blui.
The campaign, so far as results are con
cerned, Is over. Mr. Ta ft will win. It la
only a question of majority, and every
Republican should put bis shoulder to
the wheel and make the majority a rous
ing one.
When the 3d day of November Is past
it will be found that Hon. William E.
Rice of Warren, the Republican nominee
for President Judge of this district, will
be the most unanimously elected candi
date that bas been before the people since
the district was formed. lie bas the en
dorsement of every party in the district
except the Prohibition. The people will
have a righteous Judge -vho will grow In
their estimation aa his term of office advances.
Urok your Republican neighbor, who
may have an Indifferent streak on, to get
out and vote and do a little bustling for
the ticket. The election cornea next
Tuesday, and in order that the old fash
ioned majority be roll ad up for the whole
ticket it is necessary to be stirring. The
great heart of the country Is with Taft
and Shei man, and they should have the
support of every loyal Republican, which
means the triumphant election of the
entire excellent ticket.
From every portion of the 28th district
comes the pleasing assurance that our
able and popular Congressman, Nelson
P. Wheeler, is going to have a rousing
majority. Tte people like a clean, cour
ageous; incorruptible representative, and
they feel that in the present member they
bave such an one, and are going to give
him a big vote of confidence in this cam
paign. Let little Forest lead all the rest
in this endorsement of her favorite son,
Make Mr. Wheeler's majority unanimous
With Harrison and Zuendel in the
Commissioners' office the affairs of the
county will be carefully, economically
and conscientiously administered. Both
are men of level beads, honest and faith
ful in the discharge of official duty, and
will look well to the interests of the tax
payers of the county. We predict that
their administration will be one of the
most satisfactory the county has bad in
many years. Give these two Btalwart
Republicans and farmers your vote and
hearty support.
Don't Spoil Tour Itallot
Four years ago a large number of votes
were lost to tho local candidates on ae
count of the voters marking iu the square
at the top of the column containing the
names of the Presidential electors, be'
lieving that be was voting for the whole
ticket, whereas the ballot counted for the
electors only. When that is done It Is
necessary to make a cross opposite the
name of each of the other candidates for
whom you desire to vote, To vote the
straight ticket a cross In the square oppo
sito the name of the party on the extreme
left of the ballot, Is all that Is required.
For instance: The first column on the
ballot is composed of the party names,
beginning with the Republican party,
To vote a straight Republican ticket,
then It is only necessary to make your
cross In the square attached to that party,
When you bave done this do not mark
anywhere else a by so doing you are
liable to lose your vote for the Republi
can Presidential candidate. Be careful
in yotlng, thus avoiding mistakes tbat
may invalidate your entire ballot.
Forest County never had a more
carf ful painstaking efficient and obliging
official than J. C. Geist, the nominee of
the Republican party for Prothonotary.
Hundreds of people who have bad occa
sion to do I us I ness at his olllce will
cheerfully testify to the truth of this as
sertlon. No man ever went to the Pro-
thonotary's ofHce to transact business tbat
did not come away with a higher regard
for Mr. Geist than when be went there,
and this without regaid to bis political
affiliations. Eyery one receives the most
courteous attention. His experience and
thorough knowledge ol the books and
records of his olllce makes him a most
valuable man to the taxpayers and citi
zens of the couuty, for it is not necessary
to take a lawyer to the Piolbonotary'a
olhce when you bave business to trans
act there. The humblest citizen can get
what information pertains to his business
without a cent of cost. With a new in-
oumbont in that olllce thit would be im
possible. A yote for Mr. GM Is a vote
directly for your own interest. Remem
ber this on election day.
A vote for Sharp Maxwell, is a vote to
place in the Sheriff's office an honest
laboring man, who bas earned bis liviug
and reared bis family by bard toll; bas
discharged every honest obligation and
stands today as one of Forest county's
most upright and highly respected citi
zens. Sharp will make a splendid offi
cial, having a cool, clear bead, a good
education and plenty of nerve. And
witb ftjl this he is a good, loyal Republi
can, and having been fairly nominated
by that party be deserves, and we believe
will receive, the vote of every member of
bis party. Mr. Maxwell's Democratic
opponents are busily circulating the false
hood that be became a Republican in or
der to get office, and then argue that Re
publicans ought to vote the Democratio
ticket. The fact of the matter is that
Sharp voted for President Mc.Klnley
twelve years ago, and thousands of Dem
ocrats did likewise, and from tbat day to
the present be has been a staunch Re
publican, and at the approaching election
big vote will be for Taft and prosperity as
against Bryan and ruin, and tbat ought
to be enough to squelch any cauard that
he Is not a sound, loyal Republican
Stand by him and help to swell his ma
jority.
Th b Republicans of Forest county have
reason to be proud of their candidate for
Assembly because of his clean, honorable
record. A. R. Mechling is especially
well equipped for the ollice to which he
aspires, possessing a clear head, splendid
business ideas, a good education, clean
morals, ia a sound reasoner, and pos
sesses the bappy faculty of making and
retaining friends, one of the greatest es
sentials to a successful legislative career.
Without question Mr. Mechling will
make one of the best members that For
est couuty bas ever had.

lates the liver, kidneys and bladder,

headache, constipation. Pleasant to take.

Sold by J. R. Morgan.
To attract votes, silent votes, Mr,
Bryan is circulating two political docu
ments of a strictly personal nature. One
ia the "Prince of Feaee" sermon, which
is mailed to members of all denomina
tions. It ia expected to do effective work
among the religious and betievolont, to
whom it is a bid to support Mr. Bryan as
a truly virtuous man of loRy ideals and
altruistic purposes the good man who
could do no wrong. The other document
is an account of Mr. Bryan's visit to the
Vatican, in wbicb he gives an appreciative
and pleasing picture of Pius X. This is
sent only to Catholic voters. There is no
reason why any one should not resent Mr.
Bryan's unctuous solicitations to vote for
him for reasons of religion. They will
react upon biin, for the American people
bate a humbug.
Last Warning to Republican Voters of
Forest County.
s Chairman of the Republican Com
mittee, I deem it incumbent to call the
attention of the Republican voters of the
several election precincts of this County,
as to their duties Tuesday, November 3d.
The highest, most responsible and pa
triotic duly that devolves upon an
American citizen is tbe exercise of his
sovereign power at the ballot box; tbey
then elect law-makers and executive
olllcers, and hence are responsible for the
marTner of their execution.
The question is, shall we support tbe
principles and policies of the Republican
party tbat bave given this country such a
large measure of prosperity and happi
ness, or shall we try the shifting and un
stable vagaries of Bryanisui, wbicb are so
closely allied witb Socialism?
Tbe national ticketsareTaftand Bryan.
Tbe daily press bas fully set forth to the
American people the qualifications of
each as leaders of the two great parties.
The editor of this paper bas frequently
stated tbe qualifications of each and every
Republican candidate of this County,
which are not now necessary to repeat.
However, I bave advised the following,
which appeared in tbe Forest Refuuli
can, October 21st; to reappear in this
article:
'Vote for Taft, Sherman, Porter,
Wheeler, Rice Mechling, Geist, Maxwell,
Harrison, Zuendel, Gregg, Warden and
Sibble. One cross will do the job."
I will further say that when you go in
to the booth to mark your ballot it will
be dangerous ior you to make a cross op
posite some candidate's name not a Re
publican, as you may lose the entire bat
lot, or in other words your billot may be
thrown out, and not one candidate will
receive your support. In conclusion, I
further wish to call tbe attention of the
Republican voters to what was done In
this County two years ago in regard to
Assembly. I find tbat statistics show
tbat this county gave a Republican ma
jority of 401 for Governorand the same
election reports show tbat the Democratio
candidate for Assembly received 23 more
votes than the Republican candidate for
Assembly.
Will this be repeated in regard to tbe
Assembly Nov. 3d, 1908? I beg leave to
say, from reliable reports that I have re
ceived that tbe Republican voters of this
county will redeem what was lost two
years ago. And for your further infor
nation I wish to call your attention to the
fact that in louo the members of tbe
House of Representatives and Senate will
elect a United State Senator. Think this
matter over carefully if you have any in
tention of splitting your ballot. Don't do
so. Yours,
H. S. Brockway, Chairman.
