A party of about forty men, women
ml children went to Hickory last Thurs
day alteruoon ami enjoyed a ride back to
town on a fleet of the big barges which
art built at Ihat place. I he passage,

above here, where the barge encounter
ed a leaning tree which camo near brush-

water, and iu the mix-up Orrin Clark,

some excitement to the voyage besides
