Christmas Day passed off quietly in
Tionesta, there being but little or no
drunkenness and no disturbances of the
public peace. Many attended the Insti
tute and lecture. Taken altogather the
day was spent In a proper and model
manner and every one seemed to be
happy and enjoying themselves.

stolen from his shop one day last week.
The thief walked into the shop In broad

In the villsgo of Sigel, fen miles from
lirookville, Thursday, Pee. 27th, the
house of John Hanlgcr w as burned, and
Mrs. Harriger and her two little daugh
ters, aged 5 and 7 years, perished. Mr.

on a lumber job. When Mrs. Harnger
arose in tho morning sho discovered tho
house to be on fire, and called her two
sons, n liu escaped. Mrs. Harriger ran
up stairs to whom hor littlo children

jury. She directed her attention to the

At Argument Court last Wednesday,
