Mrs. J. C. Scowden went to Williams-

J. S. Kerr of the granite and marble
works of Oil City was in town Monday
and Tuesday placing a number of new
monuments in Riverside cemetery.
Sheriff Walker returned Monday
from Philadelphia where he had been on
ollicial business, and to witness the un
veiling of tho Washington monument
last Saturday.
Rev. J. T. Brennan is confined to the
house with an attack of pneumonia of
the lungs, but ho is not considered seri
ously ill as yet nnd his many friends ure
anxiously awaiting his recovery.
A. W. Alhaugh of East Hickory has
bec'n canvassing for books for some time
past and as an evidence of his success and
ability In that line one ot the companies
he represents has presentod him with a
very fine organ.
J. P. Huling left on Mouday for Wil-
liamspoi t, as dolegate to the State Con
vention of the Grand Lodge, I. O. O. F.,
which is in Bession there this week. On
his return he will stop off at Lock Haven
and visit his old home.
Death of Jane P. Morrison
Jane P. Morrison was born on May 1st,
lS27,on the Iloleuian flats along the Alle
gheny river, and was tho third daughter
of Hon. Alexander Holomau, who raised
ninocliildren,seven of whom survive her.
In 1851 she was married to Hugh Mor
rison, by whom she had one fson, A. W.
Morrison, of tho Morrison farm, near
Tidionte. hor husband dyiug about 6
years ago. About two years ago she was
attacked by grip aud rheumatism, aud
soon became wholly helploss. She was
brought to the home of her niece, Mrs.
John Lockwood, so as to be near her
physician, and died thore on Thursday
morning, May 8, 1897.
Hor funeral was held from the L. B,
Church on Saturday morning, May Sth,
and was conducted by Revs. Fonton and
Cunningham. Tho interment was in the
cemetery at Tidioute. tho burial service
having bsen read by her brother, Rev
A. Holomau of this place. She was a
very great Buflorer, and It is a great gain
