A certified copy of each act of
the legislation passed at the recent
session and approved by tbe Gover
nor, can be found on file in tbeProtb
oootary'a office of each county. This
is done in accordance with the pro
visions of an act approved by the
Governor in April last and will save
all parties, especially Attorneys, in
terested in recent legislation the
trouble of writing to the Secretary
of the Commonwealth for certified
copies of acts.
An exchan e gives the advice
that if your uncle has an aunt who
has a nephew whose wife has a cousin
that is married to an old friend of
your wile's sister, whose grandfather
used to live in the same town with an
old school mate of yours, whose son
in law is now in Chicago, you should
at once reDew the acquaintance with
a view of saving hotel bills while attending-
the World's Fair. This
scheme can be worked successfully in
many instances.
Cattle thieves were operating in

We are glad to number among
our citizens agaain Mr. W. C. Hi
lauds, who returned from his western
trip a few 'lays ago, and is rather
iuclioed to spend the balance of bis
days iu tbe eastern country. He vis
ited the World's Fair during bis ab
sence, aud gives a glowing-account of
tbe great show, the greatest, undoubt
edly, that the world has ever known.
The tales of extortion are largely ex
aggerated. Iuside the fair grounds
proper everything is free so far as
sigbt-seeiog is concerned. Any num
ber of lunch counters, and no ex
orbitant prices either. Outside the
grouds proper one can drop bis nick
les pretty lively however, if he cares
to lake in all tbe side shows. But
these are not essentially a part of the
World's Fair.
The trial of Doc. Wycyoflf, one
of tbe Leechburg bank robbers, re
sulted iu a verdict of murder in tbe
second degree, same as tbe others.
Spaythe gave up the whole scheme
when he was put on the stand, saying
that the robbery was planned in
Wyckoff's bouse and that be was one
of the watchers in front of tbe bank
when tbe attempt was being made.
Another man, Gallagher by name,
was also implicated in tbe crime, but
has made good his escape. Kroraer,
who was supposed to bave been im
plicated in the crime, was entirely
exonerated by the others, and the
court discharged him. Wyckoff was
sentenced Monday to twelve years on
tbe murder charge, four years on the
burglary charge, and six months to
tbe whorkhouse for keeping a gam
bliug house.
John R. Clark, tho Lecture En
tertainer, of Gowauda, N. Y., will
deliver two of his popular lectures,
in the M. E. church of this place, en
the evenings of July 7th and 8tb, un
der the auspices of the Epworth
League. Mr. Clark bas been on the
platform in tbe United Stales fur 19
seaeons and is no experiment. He
strikes a responsive chord every time
by his droll originality and good
common sense. Wit and Humor,
Soog aud Story, are happily blended
in all of his lectures. His subject on
Friday evening, July 7th, will be
his well known Chautauqua success,
"To and Fro in Loudon," which has
been given over twelve hundied
times. His Subject on Saturday fol
lowing will be "Hits and Misses,"
which has never failed to hold his
audience spell-bouud for nearly two
hours. The Assembly Herald, in
speaking of him says: "There bas
not been on the Chautauqua platform
this year so remarkable a man as
John R. Clark." Hvt posters next
week.
NOW FOB THE FOURTH.
Don't forget that Tionesta will cel
ebrate on the Fourth with lots of
hurrah and much fun. The rooming
salute will wake the nal:ves, and the
Hoodlum parade will make 'em
laugh fit to kill. The civic parade
will lake in tbe principal streets, and
the demonstrations at the court house
grounds will be well worth listening
to. The afternoon events will be
crowded with fun aud amusement for
old and young, while the balloon as
censions and dance in the evening
will come off according to program,
in which good musio will figure as
one of the main stays. The silver
cornet band, and the Beaver Vail ley
drum corps will keep things lively
throughout the day aod evening, and
everything is expected to go off in
real old fashioned jolly style. Come
and enjoy yourself.
Hicks on July Weather.
Prophet Hicks predicts pleasant
summer days for the most part at the
openiniog of July. By the 4th, a
warm wave will be well defined on
the western side of the country, and
storms will start toward the east.
From the 4th to tbe 7th, all the
phenomena of a regular storm period
may be expected from all points, as
they march in regular order from
West to East. Tbe 10th and Ilth
are reactionary days, at which time
it will grow very warm, aod if active
storms do not appear, tbe warmth
will increase past tbe new moon on
the 13tb, and culminate in heavy
storms ou and about tbe 16th which
is the central day of the next storm
period. About tbe 22d and 23d,
growing warmth, with all the changes
that precede and attend a' return to
storminess will appear. Bluster,
with threatening clouds aud local
rains, may be expected at this and all
July parioda, but we think there will
be a general lack of rain. Tho last
period for July runs from the 26lh to
tbe 30lh, the crisis falling conioci
deDt with the full moon on tbe 28th.
About this time much violent dis
turbance may be looked for. We
may reasonably expect a respite from
summer heat at the close of tho last
July storm.
