John Jarnieson has found a way
out of the muddle. He proposes that
a hole be cut through the court bouse
ceiling and that the big blanket ballot
bo dropped through into one of the
jury roomp, which will auswer nicely
as a ballot box. The scheme wouldn't
be a bad one. At Nebraska one of
the big barges could be barked up
aod tho voting take place from the
boat scaffold. Two precincts in this
county would thus be relieved of a
good deal of anxiety.
Here's oceans of comfort for users

the experiments in Hamburg concern

have led to a remarkable discovery.
The cholera baccilli, comma baccilli
so called, shrivelled up and died after
being placed on a tobacco leaf lor on
ly a few minutes, When the bacilli
were exposed to a dose of tobacco
fumes or tobacco juice they likewise
quickly died off.

The Keeley Club concert at the
Bchool hall last Wednesday evening
was quite well attended, and the au
dience was well pleased with the per
formaucu generally. The violin solos
by Prof. Nichols were repeatedly en
cored, and the elocutionary efforts of
Miss Nichols, Mies Clark and Mrs
Nora Siegel were well leceived. The
singing aud other music was a pleas
ing feature of the occasion. The
Club's future entertainments will
doubtlesB be well attended if this is
fair sample of what may be expected
of it.

than twenly-oue years ppent iu as try

held can be so ruined up in two brief
sentences, let the fact that it can be
so done, without having to go aside for
words or clauses to qualify or bolster
up the general statement, the fuel
that it can be told so simply, is tho
best evidence that be served faithfully.
As a man among men he occupied on

Mr. Craig was a man of literary

profuse and artistically arranged, tho
Golden Rod predominating and forming
the basis ot decoration. This beautiful
ellow blossom Is prophetic of plenty, of
bright joys anil golden opportunities, and
its clusters neatly arranged gave color to
the ferns about and above the altai', while
tho stalks knotted with white ribbon dec
orated the entranco to the pews. The
groom was attended by Mr. Frank ShertV-
ler as best man, Major Montooth, L. 11.
Reeo, W. S. Gully, and Dr. Will Haines,
a brother ot the bride, all of Pittsburg and

each attendant a diamond scarf pin, and to
each usher a pearl scaaf pin.
Miss Minnie Grace Keepers, presided at
tho organ and rendered tho wedding

Miss Keepers won golden opinions by
her exquisite rendering of tho most beau

After tho ceremony at the church, i
brilliant reception was held at the home of
