Tionesta Is on tho list of wide-awake
towns. -Clarion JavtnoHiun.
Tho following from the Moadville
Tribune applies to every town iu the
country! "Occasionally a lond of furni
ture is seen passing along the streets,
heralds of tho approaching annual moving
day. How much more pleasant it would
be all around if moving day came a month
later. About the only argument in favor
of April 1st, Is that It gives pooplo who
movo an opportunity to make a little
early carden. for which May is really
sufficiently early."
Attention is directed to the ad. in this
issua of R. C. Heath, Starr, Pa., who is

chinery. Mr. Hoath supplied a largo

stance did he havo a word of complaint
from his customers. Ho is prepared to
give the same satisfaction this season, as
lie handles only the best nnd most ap
proved articles, and solicits the patronage
of all who are contemplating a purchase.
A resident of Tionesta and an old
rivernian was In Oil City Sunday, and
expressed tho opinion to the Derrick that
thcro was a prospect of the river being
higher there this spring than it had boon
since the niemnrablj Hood of 1865. He
based bis opinion on the fact that from
Tionesta to Kane the snow was from 20 to
inches tloep on tho level and that a
sudden change to warm weather would
melt this vast bulk of snow and start the
creeks and rivers booming. He said it
was n similar state of affairs that caused
tho ISlio Hood.
Messrs. Scowden A Clark wore never
better preiiared to meet the Spring trade
in all kinds ot wheeled vehicles than they
are now. A dozen or fifteen handsome
now wagons are all set up ready to be
hitched to, a number of which havo al
ready been sold and only await the break
ing up of winter to be brought into use.
They have nearly as many buggies and
buck boards iu various stages of comple
tion, also, and can lit out a customer on
tho shortest notice. Of the material,
workmanship and general get up of theso
goods it is unnecessary to speak, as this
firm has established a reputation for honest
work that speaks louder than words.
They invite an inspection by all who con
template a purchase
Dr. Siggins has returnod from his two
weeks' sojourn at Dwight, 111., and is now
prepared to shoot tho bi-chlorlde of gold
into all who may apply for relief from tho
appetite for firewater, tobaecs, opium, etc.
He gives a glowing account of the parent
institute at Dwight, and says tbey are
turning out one thousand "graduates"
that's what the patients are called every
inciith. Also that up to date more thau
ti0,006 ooutirmod drinkers and opium users
have beon cured by the Dwight institute
and Its branches, and out of that vaut
number the merest fraction only have
gone back to their old habits, anil most of
these can be accounted tor by the fact that
they refused to give up their former asso
ciations with their appetites.

when one funner of the sled passed over
a small board pile that was on the road
