Mr. Harry Hale, agent of the

The Wolcott & Co. well on the
Frazoe tract, mouth of Little Hickory,
was finished last week, aud experts
say it shows up for a good producer.
An extra quality of sand was found
and immense quantities of it. It will
be shot this week. The well on Judge
Hill's farm is pumping steadily, aud
although greatly hampered with salt
water, Mr. Hill estimates its produc
tion at not less than 25 barrels, and it
may go "30. P. S. The Wolcott &
Co. well was shot yesterday and is
Bhowiog up for a good paying well.
It is 400 feet deep, and gets its oil
from the third sand.
Mr. R. R. Andrews of Kellett
ville, returned a few days ago from a
trip to Washington Territory and the
Pacifio coast. He visited a number
of our Forest county people, all of
whom he reports as doing well. The
timber in that country is eveiy whit
as large as represented, the soil as
rich, and the crops as thrifty. The
cherry seasou was about over when he
left, aud the Btrawberry season was at
its best. His description of these
fruits is enough to make a fellow's
mouth water, and the abundance with
which they yield is astounding. But
with all tliH the country has its draw
backs, aud Mr. Andrews' remark that
Pennsylvania was good enough for
him for a while yet, just about gives
the right idea.
Mrs. Minerva Carter, of Rouse
ville, this county, wbo was arrested
two weeks ago to-day on a charge of
perjury in connection with the pre
limiuary bearing of II. II. Wilsou, of
Townville, who was charged with
complicity in the Everliart murder,
had a hearing ou Saturday before Jus
tice Neil, of Clarion, aud was com
mitted to jail fur court in default of
$1,000 bail. The alleged perjury was
committed before Justice Sweeney, of
Clarion, on the loth of July, 1886.
At that hearing she testified that Wil
son was at her house on the 9tb and
10th of March, 1886, just after the
murder; that his face was badly
scratched, and that he told her he had
just come from Lickiogville and knew
all about the murder. At the bearing
on Saturday Mr. Wilsou proved in
coutrovertibly that he was at Nickle
ville ou the 9th, and on the 10th was
at Freedom, Rockland township, this
county. This matter bids fair to re
vive the famous double murder cae.

The Byromtown Cornet Band hat
in preparation a fine picnio and dance
at their grounds on tho Fourth of
July. Rock City, whore the grounds
are located, is one of the loveliest
picnio resorts to be found, and takes
its name from the peculiar formation
of the huge rocks which Nature has
so arranged as to resemble a well ap
pointed city, with regular streets and
aveDues. A visit to the place is al
ways highly enjoyable, and no doubt
many will take advantage of this op
portunity to go and view the grand
natural wonder. The grounds are
located about 3 miles from Sheffield
Junction, and 2 miles from Byrom
town, Jeoks township, on the Tionesta
Valley R. R. The bund boys will see
that perfect order prevails during the
day.
