THE FOREST REPUBLICAN. J. C. WINN, Cdito 4 Proprietor. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7, 1888. The National Democralio platform will doubtless cootaia a plank de Bouncing the removal of Libby Priaon from Richmond to Chicago. Govern or Foraker'i action on the bat tie-flag tune will probably come in for a mold ing also. ' Wm. L. Scott's miners are starving on ninety cents a day, bot he is still a loud shooter for free trade, Mr. Scott Is one of the class of Anglo-maniacs who can regard the sufferings of Amer ican laborers with a calm serenity born of the fact that be has everything in the world he could with for. It is only a question of lime when F and his fellow free traders shall St. uomaaked and abashed. Harriibui Telegraph. Senator Cameron beads off any move to send a Cameron delegation from Pennsylvania to the National Convention by positively saying that he is not a candidate fur the Presi dency, and will not under any circum stances be a candidate. So that set tles that part of it. By the way, doesn't this talk about a "solid delega tion" from Pennsylvania recall rather unpleasant memories? There was an attempt made in 1880 to send a "solid delegation" from this Stale, and, if our recollection is Dot badly at fault, it didn't work. The Republicans all over the country have decided against the "unit role," and those who en deavor to revive it are likely to get hurt. Keep your hands off, gentle men, and let the Republicans in their district conventions, say who they want to support. Merter Dinpalch. Mb. Mills has presented his free trade scheme before the National Con gress, in accordance with tbe recom mendations of President Cleveland, in Vch a grand strike is made at tbe industries, laborers and manufactur er! of this country. Among otber things placed on tbe free list by the bill are lumber and wool, which di rectly hits the farmers, and laborers that work on the mills and in the lum bering woods of Forest county, and means nothing more nor less than low er prices for lumber and consequent lower wages. Notwithstanding this fact the Democratic party of Forest county, in solemn assembly met,. pass es a resolution favoring the ad minis tration and heartily endorsing the President's recommendations on the sweeping reduction of the tariff. We imply call the attention of Foreet county farmers and laborers to this matter, and ask them whether they can afford to sopport a party which is reaching out to smother the principal industry of our county.
